Default Avic D3 install (Info or advice greatly appreciated)

Sup everyone! I'm new the forums and want to say hello!

I have a 07 Blk 4dr 4x4 Longbed Taco w/ the factory JBL audio system.

I plan on installing the Avic D3 with the PAC Swips and Metro TYTO-01 integration kits. If anyone has any other her suggestions or think otherwise, your opinions are greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know where I can get the SWC and radio wiring schematics for an 07 Taco or would it be fairly self-explanatory just by reading the installation notes for the headunit, PAC, and Metro instructions?

Any links or sources would help alot. Thanks ahead guys.

I installed an AVIC D3 in my truck and the install is fairly easy. The METRA adapter works ok. I installed mine and it worked perfectly, however, I had a shop install an alarm system and the PAC SWI and ever since they worked on it, my right channel occasionally drops out. :/ I opened up the dash and the shop apparently tapped almost every wire from the back of the head unit when they installed the alarm. I'm not sure why. I've been meaning to take it back, but I've been too busy.

Anyway, the point of that story was that I don't know if the right channel dropping has to do with the shop's tinkering with the adapter or the adapter is defective or what.

You'll like the D3. It's a nice unit. Let us know if you need help finding the reverse or speed sensor wire.

Thanks for the info guys. I was a little skeptical at first but after subscribing for file access, helped alot.

I think the main issue at hand is trying to find the reverse and/or speed sensor wire.

BRAVO: I'd appreciate it if you can help me with this (or anyone else?).

Thanks ahead.

Surely. The reverse sensor wire is red with a white stripe and you can find it under the driver's side door sill panel. The speed sensor wire is purple with a white stripe, and near the fuse box in a black 13 pin plug, pin #5. (This is the one I used for my Nav install.) You can also find one at the ECM behind the glove box, second plug from the bottom, pin #8. Holler is you have any more questions, or if my descriptions or location aren't good enough. Good luck!

I recommend you DO NOT use the ground that will be in the wire harness but instead run a seperate ground from a existing bolt that goes to the frame. Less chance of alternator whine. I used the bolt under the drivers kick panel that holds a metal clip in place that the kick panel snaps into. Make sure you sand down the area too so it's a reall good and clean connection.

Good luck

I am tearing my hair out w/ this alternator whine. I pulled the unit 4 times now. The last time, I moved the RCA cables around, sanded down the ground spot, and it went away for 3 months. Now its back. I'm going to try a different ground. Did you just attach the wire to the back of the head unit? Any specific gauge wire? Thanks in advance - I'm going nuts!!!

Wow.....totally forgot about this thread.

Just an update. It's been ahwhile since I did the install and everything came out great! Never installed the PAC SWI (Went with a remote instead) but did install a Sirius receiver.

Gotta love the D3! I think I got a really good deal so I'd say its the "best bang for the buck" in its class.

I'm looking into installing the rearview camera and bluetooth soon. Anyone selling theres or know of any cheap stores?

By the way....Thanks again for the info guys.
