Look at the top of the Tacoma forum list (separate section above) for the DIY: Fog Light Modification.
Option 2 is quick and easy. So much easier to see now with the fog lights on and the high beams (because the high beams lose the up close area) especially at night in the snow. The Sylvania Silverstar Ultras make the headlights so much brighter and whiter too.

Never heard of the check engine light coming on after doing this mod except maybe for those that try a different method. Also, some doing a different method get the fog lights coming on later while the electronics does a check on something (and they stay on for a couple of minutes). Not the case with tapping into that green wire.
Did the mod myself about a month ago and no problems. I did double-check how things were operating with a test light before doing it just because I don't like to modify things like that. But, it all checked out. Others might be able to identify the actual changes but here's MY GUESS: I believe the relay is only used to confirm whether the lights are on and that they're in low beam. Otherwise, there's no power going to the relay to allow the fog lights to come on. So, by tapping into the green wire (which does in fact provide power only when the ignition is on) you're fooling the relay in thinking that the lights are on all the time and in low beam (if others are reading this that did the research on the wiring, maybe they can verify whether this is correct?).
One thing I made sure to do was to make sure the tap into the green wire was sealed well with electrical tape because it's in an area on the fuse box that's more exposed to the outside (where all the wires come up from below), and I added silicone sealant to the hole that I drilled to seal off the fuses from the outside like it was designed.
So, go for it.

its a fuel system purge...approx 4 hrs after you shut down. why? no idea. go with the green tap setup. hardest part is gettin the fuse box split
yup. although it is the most difficult to do of these options, i think its the best. i doubt my dealer would even have a clue i did it. thats whats nice about it. once you're done, nothing looks any different, but you fogs work whenever you want them to. by doing this mod INSIDE the fuse box, no one (read Dealer) will probably EVER be looking inside. whereas if you're using a jumper up on top with all the relays & fuses, it would probably get noticed. i have noticed one small glitch with mine, and i believe it's due to the connector i used to splice with. every once in a while in the morning when i start up (when it's cold out, 30 d or less) they won't come on, but once the engine bay warms up, they work. the splice connector i used wasn't ideal and i think the way i laid it inside the fuse box, it's not getting a good connection. never have any problems on bumps, etc. , but when it gets pretty cold. i'm not gonna lie, it's been doin it for about a month off and on, and i've just been too lazy to mess with that fuse box again! it's kind of a pain gettin that sucker apart, but worth it for the sano setup in my opinion. plus, once your done all the other Tacoma drivers will be like: "why does his truck do that and mine doesn't?" i tell them the truck was a special order from Toyota's Japanese division. LOL whichever way you decide to go, make sure to use good connectors and don't forget to disconnect the battery first! good luck!
Mine's out of warranty, so it doesn't matter which way I did it. For warranty purposes, I would do the method underneath the fuse box because it'll never be found. For the method on top, no need to disconnect the battery if you splice into the green wire first. Also, as RCBS said, be sure to use a good splicer and line up the wire inside so you don't have any problems (it's been in the low 20s at night and 30s in the day and no problems here). I'm guessing the splicer on his cut the wire and when it warms up, the expansion of the wire starts to make contact again.

yeah, i'm pretty sure it's expanding & contracting with the temp differences. i'll get to that probably when i disable the TPMS light. been too busy to spend any "quality time" with my truck lately.
