Question A/C Tech Question

Lately when running my A/C in my truck it blows cold for a bit then blows warm. Does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

Thanks!

Possibly the expansion valve.

I had a similer problem with my heater until it completely stopped blowing anything. Brought it to the dealer and after 3 trips they had to change the entire heater and cooling system. Works great now!

If u are still having problems with your A/C like I am call the Toyota headquaters and file a complant hopefully they can resolve the problem. I have already file two coplant with them. The more complants the fast they will resolve this problem.

If it blows cold initially, & then warmer as the vehicle warms up, it may need refrigerant (ie-undercharged). The ability of the condenser to transfer heat diminishes as the radiator/engine compartment heats up. A slightly undercharged system (possibly due to a small leak) will lose it's ability to conduct away heat pretty rapidly - as will an overcharged system, due to the nature of the pressure/temperature relationship inherent in a/c systems.
More info is needed for proper evaluation/diagnoses.

Cool Re: A/C Tech Question

I have had the same problem. I recharged my unit and it was good for a week or two. Now back to the same thing!..Get this.............My a/c blows colder when I have a full tank of gas my a/c blows colder! When I get to half tank it seems to blow warmer. Maybe it has something to do with my payload being heavier with more gas my engine is working harder thus it blows colder at higher rpm!

I have a 2006 Tacoma SR5 V6,double cab, 6spd. It has about 45,000 km.

About year ago I had the same problem....when I had the A/C on it would blow warm air. Took it to the dealership and they attributed it to a leak in one of the A/C lines which the dealer replaced under warranty.

During the last few months, whenever I had the defogger/A/C on I heard a whinning sound which went away as soon as I turned the a/c off.

Took it to the dealer and they determined there was another leak which caused the refrigerant to leak out again. This time the A/C line leading from the compressor and the compressor itself was replaced under warranty. They didn't say what caused the compressor to fail.

My truck has also been in for the clutch pedal and suspension TSB.

Later...
