Question Tacoma Snow Plow?

A friend of mine was thinking about getting a 4 door tacoma, but he wants a plow-for his driveway (1/4 mile) and his small business. So my question is, does toyota offer a plow on their tacomas? If not, who does (any recomendations)? If he gets an aftermarket snow plow, will that affect his warranty? BTW he wants a tacoma for better milage than he's currently getting with is chevy silverado.

Thanks!!

i don't know that his mileage would be much better than his silverado unless it was a the bigger motor. Just my $.02. My mileage is almost the same in my taco as it was my tundra.

Yeah, I don't know if it will get much better milage but his future wife doesn't like driving the silverado because it's too big.

KEEP US UP TO DATE!!!

If I have any money left during the Spring/Summer sale time on plows I'll join you in purchase of plow. I've been recommended the Fisher Homestead, Fisher LD, and one from snoway.com.

Any update?
No purchase yet on my part.
No money either.
I dread another year of shoveling this driveway.

I read on one of these forums at one point someone who talked to Toyota and Toyota themselves said something to the effect that "the Tacoma is not a work truck." Can you believe it? Well I wouldn't personally put a snowplow on this truck, but good luck to you.

Not a work truck?! LOL
tell that to my Tacoma when I'm crawling in 4X4 up out of a new building development with an overloaded bed of green wood rounds or logs to be split.

I digress,

I'm up in the air whether I will put a light plow as suggested by some here or purchase a 13hp husky to throw the snow 40 ft over the stone walls into the woods. Probably cheaper for the husky XP

Probably much cheaper when considering wear and tear on your Tacoma.

This is my Boss' original owner 87 Pickup Xtra cab 4x4 5 speed 22RE motor with a snow plow setup. He had to lower the bumper to make the snow plow configuration work. How stupid I know This truck had only 120K. He is so cheap too.

The Tacoma really isnt built heavy enough for plowing snow. Honestly, you shouldnt be plowing with anything smaller than a 3/4 ton truck.
Granted, the smaller trucks will do it, but its pretty hard on them and it wouldnt take much to bend the frame on your Tacoma while plowing snow.
If you just have to plow a relatively small area, Id suggest just buying an ATV. You can buy an ATV and a plow for that ATV for less than what a plow would cost you and at least then you wouldnt be tearing up your truck plowing snow.
Ive seen plenty of people with those "poly plows" on older Toyota pickups, but I personally wouldnt do it.

This isn't my truck. Oh by the way, my boss does have an ATV. I'm not sure if he has a snow plow for it.
