TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "One more Grill question", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I have not been on here in a while and I have been searching the forum to get a 100% positive feeling about the billet grill set I want.
I traded in my '05 XC SR5 for a '06 TRD Sport DC (best move I ever made). I want to get a billet grill (with the emblem showing) and want to get the WHOLE 5 piece set. I found this guy on ebay and the price is good. I would rather pay more and be confident in my purchase so please, someone who has a 5 piece billet grill setup tell me EXACTLY where you got it, how much, and quickly describe the install process. (PICS would be nice touch too).
Trendz makes very good looking grilles. I have the upper and lower grille pieces on my Tundra and they completed that custom look of the front of my truck. They make a few different types for the Tacomas all multiple piece sets

I appreciate the help but I really need specifics. Do you have a link. I google'd "trendz" and cannot find a good link.
I know I am asking a lot, but the fact is I have waited for the aftermarket to work all the kinks out before I got anything on my truck. I really want the right look and non of the horror story's that are on some of the "grill" threads on here.
Anyone with a 05-08 Tacoma have a good 5 piece billet setup (upper, lower, sides and scoop), with or without the emblem showing, a link as to EXACTLY where to purchase, and some words of wisdom/install tips please send it along.

this is some what on topic since we are talking about grills. i have an 03 i got a billet from e bay it looks good on the top but the bumper grill sticks out the jackass that put it on did not know how to put it on so he ended up mickey mousing it. it was held on by screws but the screws keep getting loose and due to 4x ing the grill fell off and scratched my bumper. so please some one shead some light on my problem any info is appreciated.
The lower piece on my set came with a couple small bolts, washers and nuts that thread into brackets behind the grille piece. This keeps it fitting tightly against the brackets and does not vibrate or loosen up at all. I've had it on for over 2 years and have done alot of aggressive 4 wheeling and have never had to touch my grille for anyreason but to clean the mud off it.

I got mine off ebay. It's the 5 piece set-up w/o emblem (link below). I paid $125 shipped to Calgary, Alberta. Install was fairly simple once I found proper instructions online. The directions that come with the package are very poor, but I've heard that about pretty much every billet grill vendor. The scoop installs with a set of long skinny bolts. All you have to do is drill a couple holes and you're done. The main grill is a bit more difficult. Mine, without the emblem, invloved cutting out the center on my original grill. It's a bit nerve racking because if you screw up there is no going back. But once you have the center cut out it's simply four srews and you're done. the two small triangles beside the main grill are simpe screws. And the lower piece (as described above) has no drilling required. It comes with some clips that hook on the back of the billet and then to your bumber and you just tighten a couple bolts to snug it up.
Bulldog, I bought the same grill from ebay this past december. They look great and were very easy to install. the 2 side pieces and the scoop are put in with screws( just drill a small hole to put the screw through) and the upper and lower grills hook on to the exsisting grills. I'm very happy with them and its nice to know they can come off just as easily if you want.
Not yet. I'll try to get some taken. The photo on ebay is pretty accurate. I have the scoop also, so I'll try to post them when I figure out how to do it. New to this stuff.
