2005 tacoma front vibration

83k on mine and the front end humming showed up....anyone done this fix on their own....i hate hearing all this crap about dealerships..... anyone got an exploded view of the front diff?

took the truck to the dealer and told them about the vibration..... actually my truck has 81700 miles on it... service guy said i need a new drive shaft and i have a broken motor mount..... they wanted 1600$ to do the fix, and proceeded to tell me my truck is out of warranty, after telling him that was unacceptable he came back and said toyota would cover the cost of the driveshaft (not tax or installation) but not the motor mount (~300$)...... Then for the real stumper, I asked him why the motor mount was broke, he said he didn't know and went on to tell me there was a service bulletin about them.... I asked him why I am paying if there was a service bulletin... .... and I still don't think they are going to fix the real source of the vibration....i know the vibration of the driveshaft, and i know the new vibration is from up front...... and oh, my motor mounts look intact, so i plan to ask him to show me where it's broke.

another thing I noted while waiting in the "customer waiting center".... they are pushing nitrogen for tires for $30, tail light fluid, muffler bearings, and cabin filters for 50$.....i was told my cabin filter was dirty and needed replacing.....my truck didnt even come with one!!!!!!

I think I might have found the reason for the vibration problem.
I found a pdf about the lubrication of the drive shaft and drive shaft bushing.
I'll do this and get back with you guys to see if this corrected the issue.

So did the drive shaft just wear out, or what was the problem with it?

Humm ... I've never seen a TSB for broken motor mounts. Has anyone seen such a TSB? If so, can someone please post it?

True, the 2005s didn't come with a cabin filer ... but, you can put one in it from the 2006 Tacoma ... I put one in mine.

i believe the motor mounts is toyotas effort to correct the angle on the motor/trans to eliminate the vibration....dont know why he bs'd me into thinking they are broke, other that to try and get me to buy them



True, the 2005s didn't come with a cabin filer ... but, you can put one in it from the 2006 Tacoma ... I put one in mine.

yep, i know right where it goes and it will never see one....just make one (or 5) out of a 10$ furnace filter....lol

Alright, I thought is might have been the drive shaft but it's not.
I got into my Wife's truck the other day to see if I could find more info and the vibration only happens when the wheel is turned.

When the wheels are straight then everything is fine.
Once the wheels get turned then I hear...vib....vib....vib.
It's more prevalent when the car is cold.

Wheel bearing? Anyone else have other ideas with what the heck is going on?

Remember, I do NOT have a 4WD.
