Default Trouble Greasing Front Drive Shaft

I have an '06 Double Cab 4x4. When I went to grease the truck the first time I couldn't get my grease gun on the zerk at the transfer case side of the front driveshaft. All others were easy.

Anyone have similar difficulty with this one. Any tricks to make it easier or am I just not holding my tongue right?

Thanks.

I have to remove the small "skid plate" then I can grease with no problems. If I don't remove the skid plate I just can't get the angle using the zerk guns I have.

My grease gun has a flex hose, which helps... and if you don't already have one, a needle point might also help.

I've got a Tundra, and have the same problems in the same areas. I need a more narrow tip for my grease gun to hit the two difficult spots on the shaft.

i have a flex hose and it works just fine without removing anything. If you are just having a hard time actually getting the gun to just snap on, maybe there is some buildup on the zerk... try cleaning it a little and see if you can snap it on. Put some muscle into it

I cant get it to snap with my flex hose zerk gun. the tip has to much of a long section before the flex hose starts. If it was just 1/2" shorter it would work.

It is only 3 bolts to remove and I only grease that section once a year before winter as that shaft gets verry low miles.

Try a short needle point like this...

I eventually got mine, I had to rotate the shaft to the sweet spot. Near horizonal IRRC
