TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "06 Tacoma Issue", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am trying to sell my truck, but haven't had a bite on it yet! I am asking $25,000.00 for it and it has 24,700 miles on it and is in perfect condition. I even have a 6" ProComp lift, 35" ProComp A/Ts, and 17" wheels...all under 100k mile warranty. Am I asking too much? Any thoughts?? I'll try to upload pics...Thanks!
Most folks don't want to mess with a lifted truck unless the know the owner and/or who did the work, some banks might not loan out as much on a modded truck, and since it is a buyers market at the moment it makes it even harder to deal with versus new. Exactly who is going to honor a 100K warranty on all the suspension components?, prob only the dealer who installed it, and no one else, and the warranty supplier will prob not touch it and even if they agreed before issuing the policy on the warranty, they will just say if is an off road truck now and any damage was driver's fault.

Reason: spellin errrors
It is very hard to get the value of after market mods particularly lift kits, big wheels and tires, custom paint and electronics when you sell a used vehicle, unless you can find a buyer who was planning on performing the same mods. IMO, try pricing the vehicle based on private party blue book value and use the high end value or very slightly above, then use the mods and excellent condition to avoid lowering the sales price.
Also consider that manufacturers including Toyota just finished last month offering great incentives on brand new vehicles. Someone could probably buy a 2008 Tacoma minus the mods for close to your price. Which would you rather have? Now that the end of the first quarter is past the dealer incentives will likely disappear for a month or two.
As with the sale of anything else, it's about finding the right price.
I just got (less then 1 month ago) a stock '06 AC, V6, Auto, with the tow and TRD Off Road packages for $20,500. It had 8800 miles on it too, purchased from a dealer and the original asking price was $25,800.
how the heck did ya score that deal. i don't think i would be able to talk a sale into including an air freshener hahaha
I use to sell cars I walked when they were $500 away, they didn't stop me from walking out. I went back an hour later and took it with a "we owe" for a couple door dings.
The key to buying a new or used vehicle is to ask for two things; 1)Trade difference and 2) Price w/o a trade. Subtract 2 from 1 and you get the real value of your trade-in. The Salesman tried to confuse me with items non-negotiable (payments & payoff), I must have confused him (he offered a deal too good) and his boss had to back pedal..... they lost $645 on the deal.... they hope to recoup it when they wholesaled my trade.
/sorry to hijack but I think the OP's asking price is too high.
