Default Should I: '00 Tundra to '08 TACO?

Hello from Canada, where we know how to play Hockey and drink beer, we play hockey better than you Yanks but I think we are even in the beer Okay I presently drive a 2000 Tundra 2wd, nice truck, best truck I have ever owned goes like hel$ and I can load it with as much firewood as I can get in it. But Gas up here is $4.96 a gallon and its begining to stop me from doing things like going to the lake.
I am looking at a brand new 2008 2wd Taco 2.7 5 spd SR5 for $25,300. I don't need a 4x4 because we only have snow on the ground for 6 months out of the year.
The question is what type of gas mileage are you getting in your 2.7 LT. I drive like a old man and I can get 19 in the tundra if I drive at 65 which I do.Hey most of the snow is gone

Hold on to your truck for a while... IMO there will be a hybrid Truck from Toyota within a few years. You will regret getting rid of your Tundra for a 4 banger Tacoma. A V6 Tacoma and you may be happy but the improvement in MPG's will be slim. I'll give you Hockey, but I don't know about the Beer, I think we have the Beer advantage!

Thanks for the advice, nothing wrong with the Tundra except 19 MPG if I drive the speed limit. And it does carry allot of stuff too. What kind of MPG are you getting on the Highlander Hybrid?
As for the beer I will test it out at the lake this weekend, but a study such as this takes years of research

If you are in the market for a new truck anyway, a 2.7 5spd is a good combo, but trading just to get better mileage usually does not work out to any advantage. You will get; SWAG, 5-12% better mileage, but spending the gas money on insurance and truck payments. As said above, if you do want a new truck, no reason not to get one that gets better mileage as long as it meets your needs.

Are the gas mileage figures in US gallons, and is the dollar amount in Canadian or US money?

Just did that.

Traded my '01 Limited Tundra for an access cab SR5 2.5 5 speed.

Kind of like shifting my own gears again. I can't tell you how much I miss the power, gotta be humble on the freeways now.

Showing 22-23 mpg on the scanguage. Need to do some tuning to the scanguage to tell for sure.

My first new truck ever, still kind of sad to say GOODBYE to the Tundra.

gorpet:

Which model are you looking for? RC/AC or 2WD/Prerunner/4WD?

Even though I missed Tundra's 4.7L power but it gave me no confidence in unleashing all the power due to Tundra's weak brakes.
