Default Windshield replacement woes! SAFELITE!

Well, I should have checked here first. Figured I would get my 06 Taco's windshield replaced, so I called the insurance, and went with "SAFELITE" and now, after getting home see the poor work.

First, they scratched my hood. I guess they never heard of a blanket or soft cloth.

Second, where the rubber seams on the roof of the cab meet the window, there is a hole if you will. I should say a gap, perfect for water to go down and sit who knows where. Tomorrow was the drive day to see if all if fine, looks like I'll be on the phone!

Anyways, I thought I'd give you heads up, to stay away, there are a number of complaints on this company.

PS, anyone know the drawbacks on stopping payment on the check? I don't even want them coming to try and fix the problem!

The Phoenix will become famous soon enough.

Being a veteran windshield guy on here, I wish I would have known prior to them even touching the truck. Most of their technicians are worthless. They sit through training courses picking their noses and staring out the window.

You could put a stop payment on the check, but there will be a fee. Possible $30 or so. The work they do has to be guaranteed so just keep calling them to fix the problem. Eventually someone will get it right, but at the expense of wasting more of your time.

The glass they use is crap too. Lots of imperfections-- let someone else drive-- when they're making a turn, focus on one object-- the object will stretch, showing the imperfections in the glass. Hey, I see you are in Arvada, which one did you go to?

I went with Safelite as well for the same reasons- the insurance company had some sort of deal with them. I had a bad time with the PPG glass on my wife's 4Runner so this time I insisted on OE glass instead of the standard generic replacement. They got the glass from the dealer and installed it with no problems noted-yet.

That's funny, I even inquired about factory glass and they said they couldn't get it. Did they charge you more for the factory glass?
