TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Denso Irridium Question!", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Hey guys,
I don't have too many posts here, but I'm doing the spark plug change in my 2006 Tacoma and I'm pretty confused with the denso part numbers.
What the heck is the difference between:
Irridium Long Life? SK20HR11
Irridium Power? IKH20
I want the Long Life, but it looks like I can't find anyone that sells this part number. What's up with this plug?
Has anyone installed this plug?
I'm being told that the IKH20 is the way to go, but why?
Is the SK20HR11 non irridium?
I'm searching all around here and all I seem to find out is some installing the SK20HR11 and others are installing the IKH20.
I'm totally confused, and I have no idea with where to by from.

Sorry but not true.
I just went to your web site and saw all of the options.
If you fill out the correct info:
2006 Tacoma 4.0L
There are different Denso plugs.
The ones you are referring to are the K20HRU11, which are 3.14.
They also offer the Denso IKH20 at 8.39 and the Denso SK20HR11 (the ones I want) at 11.32 each.
Wow! What a difference!
It looks like there really is a difference between the three, but I'm curious to see what exactly the difference between the 2 iridium plugs are.
Does anyone know what makes the "long life plug" long life?
It looks like I'm going to have to call Denso and ask them but if anyone knows then please chime in.
Call and ask Denso Tech? 1-888-963-3676
one will be a 60K mile plug and the other probably a 120K mile plug?
just call them and they will be able to answer all your questions or give you a number to contact denso aftermarket, i have talked with them and they were very helpful! from what i see the price is the same for both plugs? Denso starters, alternators, iridium plugs, fuel pumps and glow plugs
ya order them by stock numbers not the plug numbers, and thisinfo is on the boxes about installing them, they have to be treated with care and a bit different than a regular plug? Installation Guide: DENSO Iridium
It looks like the "flat seat plugs" diagram is wrong though since they have a 1/16th of a turn in the 1/4 turn mark.
Actually, the red arrow indicates 1/2 turn... at any rate, it's not correct... good thing you have a torque wrench. Remember to use a small amount of anti-seize on the threads so you can remove the plugs the next time.
Yup, a little bit goes a looooong way! But without it, they can be just about impossible to remove -- especially with aluminum heads, and it can get rather expensive...
Thanks to everyone that responded.
I called them and lelandstanford had it correct.
You know what's funny? I PM'd URD about the SK20HR11 because they are a supporting vendor on this forum. I told them that I was interested in purchasing the iridium long life plugs for my truck.
I wanted to give them my business, but they replied back telling me the following:
"I don't think that's an iridium plug" and "IKH20 is the correct plug".
This is the main reason why I started this thread because I was trying to figure out if they really knew what they were talking about or not.
Obviously, they don't and you guys do. They were only telling me that the IKH20 was the correct plug hoping that I would purchase the plugs from them.
I found a company close to me that has them in stock so I'll pick them up this evening and most likely install them this Friday.
What plugs were in motor as in OEM? They were trying to make sale and ya can't blame them for trying to sell something! both plugs work but LONG LIFE gives it all away!! Probably best pick for same price! why same price i have no clue? Denso sells plugs by stock number not plug number which can throw resellers off a bit, but plugs donot have to be too hard but understand that for 12 bucks ya want the correct plug! The cheaper OEM plugs are ok also ya just have to change them more often! Denso's are to me a better quality constructed product! http://www.toyotaownersonline.com/pu...arkplugs06.pdf

No! And, ya know why?
They tried to pull close to the same crap that URD did.
I went there to pick them up and they were the IK plugs!
I even called a second time to make sure that they had the SK plugs.
He said,"Oh, the only difference is bla bla bla."
So I said,"You know what the difference is for me? 100,000 miles!"
He ordered them for me the next day and I said alright and then ordered them online from a cheaper place.
I still haven't gotten them yet. They're supposed to get delivered this Wednesday and watch...I'll open the package and they'll be the IK plugs!!
