Flashing Maint Req Light

The owners manual told me that I need to change the oil when this light went off. I wanted to go 5000 miles between changes, but the light kicked on at 4000...so I changed the oil and the light still flashes when I start the truck. Any Ideas?

With the key on make sure the odometer is in the ODO position (Not Trip a or Trip B). Turn key off.

Hold the trip meter reset in while turning the key to the on position (do not start). You will see five 'hyphens' or dashes clear themselves, when they are all clear you can release the reset and turn the key off.

I think that the light will flash for a few seconds each time you start the vehicle at about 4,500 miles and then stay on after 5,000 miles. This info is in the owner's manual.
