TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Grill Guard vs Tow Hooks", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I just got my 2008 double cab with the Off road option. It comes with tow hooks as part of the package. But, to put on a grill guard you have to remove the tow hooks. Any input on other options? I was told the grill guard really can't be used as tow hooks.

I don't know which grille guard you are considering, but when I put on my WAAG, I simply put spacers between the hook and the frame (provided) and turned the hook the opposite way of stock. So, I do have my tow hook and a grille guard at the same time.

Can you post a pic of your WAAG? I'm very interested in that BG

Just click the camera in the upper corner of this post, those are my pics, and I just updated them yesterday.

Thanks for the input. I think I will be putting on nerf bars first and decide on the grill guard down the road. Should have my camper shell in a week or two so I'm taking it one step at a time.
