Do-It-Yourself 2007 Tacoma Cooling Fan Install...need advice.

I have a 4 cyl. 07 Taco. I drive a lot for work, and I am looking to better my gas mileage. I was thinking that on race cars they install electric fans to save power, so why not do the same on my pickup to save gas? I'm a good DIY guy and know basic wiring. What kits or parts are available that any of you recommend? Anything other info or advice you want to share is welcome. Thanks.

i don't know if the work would be worth it myself.
figure the cost and we already have a clutched fan?

don't know if you remember the old dodge K cars from the 80's ?

well i had two company cars and both had the same problem, the fan would not always turn on !
i was stuck on the oakland bay bridge with a cooked engine and after repairs about 2 months later it happened again.so i just wired up the fan to a switch to save engine #3. so one fail of the cooling electronics could result in a very bad day !
ok maybe it was just a strange problem on that model but don't think the benefits would outweigh any cost savings as the amount of savings has to be small ?
just my nickel's worth ( 2 cents adjusted for inflation)

Here you go: Toyota Tacoma Electric Fan These guys have an adj. thermostat for when they will kick on, a relay to turn the fan on when the A/C is on and a switch can be installed to force it on or off (water crossing).

Although there is a clutch, the fan spins at a reduced speed until the thermostat in the clutch engages the clutch fully. If it didn't our A/C's would be useless sitting in traffic. So no matter what, the fan is drawing power from the engine. Just when the engine is actually over the thermostat temp in the clutch, that's when the clutch engages completely. I'm still not sure why they wouldn't just use two electric fans, from the factory.

THey provide more uniform cooling, plus more cfm's when at and idle when standing still.

Same reason HVAC is Delphi instead of Denso (save $$$).
