Do-It-Yourself Alternator Wiring Question...

I'm adding a second battery to separate my Xantrex 1000 inverter plus adding secondary DC power to the bed (I have a Snugtop XtraVision Cab). I have twin boys and I am planning a lot of 4x4 on the beach to go fishing, mountain camping, and using other electronics that requires power.

I'm trying to figure out which color wire is the IGN from the alternator. I suspect it's the light green wire, but don't want to jump to conclusions. I'm going to tap that wire into my brand new SurePower battery isolator. I could put the key in "On" position and run a needle through the suspected wire to test for current. I know that if the Key is in the "ACC" position this wire should not have current.

I thought I'd give you guys a chance to chime in before I start stabbing my 3 available choices with a needle and probe.

The alternator has a blue on black cable running into the fuse box, then it returns from the fuse box and attaches to the saddle bolt on the positive power bolt on the battery. The positive "Red" cable runs directly to the Starter.

Two Questions:

1.) Should I reroute the alternator power line before it gets to the fusebox, or after it comes out of the fuse box?
1a.) If the answer is yes, then I would need to take line 1 out of the isolator and cut back into the rerouted line; thus continuing the circuit from the isolator?
1b.) If the anser is "no", does the alternator line into the fuse box do anything?

2.) Which color wire of the three wires is the IGN line?

I hope you guys can help me here. thanks ahead of time.

That is not a question that can be answered with yes or no.
You should be talking to TacomaOffRoadGrl about this. She's already done the mod.
See this thread.

Angus_NB...We have the same truck in the same color, mine is a '06. I went over TacoOffRoadGirl's posting and wrote her a note, but she hasn't answered. Impressive what she has done though. Our trucks are wired a bit different than hers as well.

So with that said...one of the members sent me the wiring diagram and this morning it all started to make sense too me. I'm going to do this:

I'm running the primary (BAT) positive line out of the Alternator, after it runs through the fuse box, to my alternator post on the battery isolator. I'm going with the Light Green line out of the Alternator to the "on" sensing post on the isolator. Then I'm running the 1 and 2 posts on the isolator directly to the positive posts on the respective batteries. This should be the way it's done. If not...anyone have a complete wiring harness for a perfectly good 2006 Taco? <hopefullly joking>

You guys rock...I'm posting my truck later today in my profile.
