Default Tacoma 2005 trd 2x4 won't start

hello,

my tacoma did not start. When I start the truck this afternoon the truck start kinda low i felt that i have to push the start this time. When I got home my husband was leaving and the truck did not start. He try to crank the truck but it didn't and a noise like something was trying to start but no enough energy was going through. THis is the second time this happen like 2 weeks ago i accidentally left a door open and the battery died. I have never change the battery probably is time to do so. any suggestions or I should go to the dealer or a mechanic.

THanks,

First, welcome to TS from NorCal!

It sounds like a dead battery, but before buying a new one, make sure the terminal connections are clean & tight. Three years is a bit on the short end of battery life, but it's not unheard of and it may have been weakened by being drained when the door was left open. Did you try to charge it?

There's also a possibility that your truck's charging system has failed -- but a bad battery is more likely. Many shops (and some auto parts stores) will check your battery and your charging system for free.

Good luck!

I had to replace my battery within the first year. I have had the negative battery terminal come loose too.

Thanks for your comments.

We did charge the battery at home with those thing that you jump and charge the battery(sorry but i don't know the name of that thing). It did charge but it still have a really weak start.

We went to Auto Zone to have the battery and alternator tested. Bad battery was the result. My husband call a few places and the cheapest one was direct from the dealer (Altanta Toyota). 71.00 with taxes.

Thanks for your help. We will continue to read this forum was a trully help.
