2005 rear leaf springs squeaking again:
I had my 2005 Tacoma's (regular cab 4X4) springs replaced under warranty on July 27, 2007. The new spring set that was installed had oblong holes front and back to hold the nylon spacers. This appeared at the time to be the current "fix" from Toyota.
Exactly one year later, I noticed that they were squeaking again -- * a whole bunch*.
I took it to the dealer this morning and the service writer said that they will do what is Toyota's third attempt to resolve this issue. He said that they alter the spring set up. OK, does anyone know what actually is involved in this procedure?
Because the truck has over 55,000 mile on it they will do the work under Toyota's "good will" warranty. And they should!
Darndest thing, my 2002 Tacoma and my 1992 Toyota truck went over the same roads without developing a leaf spring squeak -- 60,000 miles on the 2002 and over 150,000 on the 1992. Neither of my Dodge Rams developed a rear suspension squeak. What's up with Toyota?
Tom
