Default Question for Canadians re: imported trucks

I've been loving my 2004 tacoma, but having a tough time not checking out the newer generation Tacomas. For a full load truck, it's probably going to cost over $40K. On Craigslist, I see brokers advertising brand new full load US trucks for around $32K, which represents a substantial savings for the average Canadian consumer.

I'm guessing I'm not the first to have considered this, and I'm asking myself if buying a truck from my local dealer (which I have a good relationship with) is worth the difference in money? Any advice on why this is a good or bad proposition?

thanks!

I bought mine from the US. Safed close to 13,000.00. My local dealer warrenties it without issues, they are happy to get the warranty work and more then understanding when I tell them the price difference. Although I doubt the service manager even realizes I purchased it from the US.

The whole process took less then 4 hours from when I got to the border to when I had it fully licensed and inspected.

Personally I would not go with a broker as it is really extremely straight forward. It is even easier now since the immobilizer laws and bumper laws have been relaxed/

Check out CarsWithoutBorders . as it is a very imformative website.

Let me know if you need any more infor.
