If I remember correctly, Canadian spec trucks already come 4 leafs. Its the US trucks with the lame 3 leafs... Still 3 leafs on the 09's, but not sure if they have been upgraded.

I don't know if this helps. But I have a 1997 tacoma V6 4x4 extra cab that I carry a 1,350 lb truck camper on the back. That plus the cargo puts me well over that, probably around 1,450 lbs. I added a leaf spring before I got the camper - which prevents it from bottoming out at all. But it made for a stiffer ride. It's level and handles great and I've put more than 20,000 miles on the truck with the camper on back.
