TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Overhead Temp/Direction gauge removal", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Has anyone ever removed their overhead direction/outdoor temp gauge assembly. If so,how easy was it? I can see the one screw when you open up the area where you can mount a garage door opener. I took that one out but did not want to force anything. Mine has gone out. Some times if I push really hard on the display button it will come on. It was working fine until I used my bed outlet the other day to run a tool. Also when I push the button to activate the outlet the orange light always comes on but the green light for the 400w will come on some times and then the next time I engage it, it will not light up? I have checked my fuses and they seem to be just fine. Any pointers?
Remove the one screw, then pull on the front (end closest to the seats) once the front pops out the back should slide out, it might take a little effort but will come out.

Thanks!
If the truck is in gear of the clutch is pushed in or if the 12v accessories (lights, radio, etc) are using too much juice the 400W will not turn on.
