Question 08/09 tacoma

My Grandpa is looking at the tacoma again.. He has had toyota since 1995 being from cars to trucks to the RAV 4'S.. He has had 3 or 4 tacomas and was looking at the 08 or 09 model and wants it to be a double cab limited.. I have the 05 Double Cab tundra and its a great truck.. Will the tacoma be a good choice.. He is 82 now.. Do to arthritis we may have to put a push button start on it do you think its possible.. Will it be a good choice for a 82 year old in good health ??

The first thing that comes to mind is the high step-in for the 4x4 / pre-runners. If he decides to get a Taco, definitely get some sort of nerf bar or running boards for steps.

Any alarm shop should be able to install a remote start or push button start in an automatic transmission equipped Taco. I suggest he test drive one to experience the truck first hand and decide if it is for him.

Most Toyota's use the on key theft deterrent (electronic key) so at some point the key needs to be put in the ignition and activated. It would be interesting to see how to work around this, but it would still involve the key being inserted and turned to unlock the steering (and activate the ecu)

You mentioned that he wants it to be a double cab limited, no such thing exists in a tacoma...in a tundra you can get a limited model, but tacoma can only be had in an sr5 package. Not sure what part of the "limited" package he requires though.
