tacoma top speed?

hi, i have a 05 tundra double cab. i tap out at 105mph.I HIT THE LIMITOR!:-(

my neighbor has a 05 tacoma trd.
he said he hit the 120 highest point on the speedo and it didn't cut out, meaning it didn't hit the limitor.

he noticed that the speedo was bouncing 120.
the truck continued to speed up.
he CLAIM'S, he was going well over 120. AND NEVER HIT THE LIMITOR THE TRUCK NEVER CUT OUT.

since the speedometer has a 120mph guage top end.

did or does anyone has a 2nd guage such as a scan guage2 or similar that will continue to increase to tell you what speed the limtior kick's in, & shut's down the truck?
or
did anyone ever take there's to the track to see what the truck's top end is?

to he honest, he isn't to the best of my knowledge a lier.
but it's hard to swollow.
and to be perfectly honest i am still pi$$'ed.

no it wasn't safe to do this due to many factor's, no rear sway bar, and he doesn't have the right tire's .but yet he said at 85 it had a wobble, but after that it straighten out and was like a bullit, and changing lane's a smooth as my truck. again it was heart felt, & hard to swollow, & hert. knowing the a V6 tacoma had a higher top speed than even the new 5.7 V8.

he has the 2005 V6 trd tacoma, no where near my modified 4.7 V8 in power.
not even close in a 0 to 60 off the line. but he said he would pass me and be out of sight in a few seconds at top end ,once i hit my 105 limitor.

has anyone ever tried to hit the limitor?

honestly what is it?

i know he want's to trade it in for the new 2009 tacoma.
i would like to buy his, and add the trd supercharger, if they make it for that truck, add a hellwig rear anti sway bar, & some V or z rated tire's.

which lead's me to my next question -
do they make a supercharger for the 2005 tacoma?

i did a search, but couldn't find anything about the tacoma's top speed and where the limitor 's are for the tacoma. but i'm not that good at searches.

well my truck will go 70 mph ( max posted speed) and i am happy with that

having been the victim of someone that was checking out how fast his car would go i really have no respect for people that "make sure they are on a "safe road"
then see how fast it will go

you tell me how you can make sure the road is safe and i don't care if you kill/ yourself, but worried about other innocent people

and yep the guy that hit me was a hit and run and i was in a ditch along side the road for about 1/2 hour till someone saw me. what a hero he was

the smart car, that is smaller than a golf cart does 90+ mph.
the mini does 135.
& so on.
maybe someone has the answer.

not 100% sure, but i remeber reading a guy stationed in Germany said his limiter kicked in at 112 mph on the Autobahn. the limiter should kick in at whatever speed rating or just below the factory tires limit. try searching the stock tire's speed rating. it will be below that.

Ouch...what a response. Just give me a call when it's time to deal with the dead bodies and tell the grieving family their relative is dead because he wanted to see how fast his truck could go, but he lost control

And just so I don't get flamed for going off-topic, I think the limiter is around 112.....and just FYI, short of being on a track, that is criminal speeding no matter where you are. That means I get to take you to jail for the night if I choose to.

Why would you even want to go that fast in a truck? I've seen plenty of triple digits in my days, but it was usually on a track and in a car or bike that was MADE to go fast. You're talking about a 5000lb TRUCK with a high COG with the aero of a brick. That's just trouble waiting to happen. If you lose control and roll, it'll take a lot to stop that thing. Like a van full of people, family of 4 in a sedan, school bus, etc.

If you want to go that fast, take it to a track. If not, I really hope you get pulled over and put in jail before someone gets hurt.

ya i was after re constrictive surgery and about a year of rehab i can walk again ..
thanks for your consideration. and then no job and a bunch of bills and bankruptcy

and they never found the guy that hit me, but with his driving, i imagine he was picked up with a damp sponge from a "safe road to speed on" a few years later

and never messed up anyone else's life

drive any speed you want the second you can prove to me that you can not possible kill or mutilate anyone ( the correct answer is NOWHERE)
i hope when you finish puberty you will learn you can hurt yourself and people and drive up insurance rages ( if you are caught)

I also hope the roads you drive on, hopefully empty, were also made to sustain speeds in excess of 80mph. One bump and a slight shift in the wheel would roll your truck a few dozen times. But that's probably not the answer you were looking for either.

All you have to do is look at the speed rating of your tires. Obviously, Toyota would not be putting on S rated tires, which is what mine came with, and then allow the vehicle to go faster than that. Some moron would go too fast, blow a tire, then, IF he survived the horrendous crash, lie about his speed and attempt to sue Toyota. And if said person hit one of my relatives, he'd better pray he goes to jail for a long time and that I'm long gone when he gets out.
