TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "new guy, excellent site", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Which DC? What do you mean? Are you asking if the TRD Off-Road or Sport gives the best ride? The non-TRD will give you the most plush ride. Then the OR, then Sport (IMO).

Yup, and to clarify, the non-TRD is the SR-5, which is the base model.
There are differences in equipment between the three, so be sure to get the one that best suits your needs/wants. Also, the two TRD models have different seats than the SR-5...
I've been in the military for 2o years, 2 back surgeries, 3rd right around the corner -so the smoothest ride is what I'm looking for. 4x4 is always a plus, but not a necessity.
So the best ride in 4x4 or 4x2 double cab would be the base model SR5, which is a non-TRD.
Thank you for the information, I'll keep reading to bring myself up to speed.
Dunno how bad your back is, but in reality you *may* want to consider other possibilities. We've had our doublecab 4x4 OffRoad for three years, and the ride is somewhat firm, but not harsh... still, it is a long way from plush. SR-5 will be a bit softer but not by much. Take the longest test drives you can, over less than perfect roads and see what you think. I know a Silverado has a much softer ride...
