TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "possible shudder fix", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I'm seeing that there could be a TSB out to correct the low speed shudder on some Tacomas. It's number 0132-08. Wondering if this is really out as the dealer here says he has nothing on it. I would appreciate any feed back.

With the number of problems they've addressed with TSBs, it makes you wonder if they actually test their design out before selling it to the public.
It sounds more like a production quality problem to me. I see a ton of problems that people are having on some trucks, but my '05 had been perfect except for the cab mount TSB. So some trucks are fine, some have a few problems and it seems like some are a complete POS. That is what happens when you don't have good manufacturing quality control, which was never a Toyota problem in the past. But it might be these days, particularly for Toyota products made in the good old USA.

My thought too. I've got a 2005 made in spring of 05 that has been great. My truck has not shown the symptoms of one TSB yet -- knock on wood. Guess I got lucky to get good quality parts and assembly.
I talked to the dealer yesterday and they said they have the tsb but it only applies to certain vin's. He said they've had good results after it has been done. My vin is not included but he 's going to re-do it for me anyway. I'll let you know the results.

Well, some of the problems are undoubtedly related to production. Others are design related. This driveline vibration TSB changes the DESIGN of the tranny mount if I understand correctly. There are other instances which point to design/cost cutting being the cause of problems. The exhaust manifolds were redesigned. The 3 leaf packs are a design problem, completely inadequate for a TRUCK of this size. Even something as simple as the air intake vibrating against sheet metal. Why wasn't the intake designed originally with foam to cushion the imapact? IMO, sloppiness. You can't blame everything on factory workers. They cannot improve on a design.
Right. The new mount is supposed to slightly change the drive angle. The dealer said even though this tsb doesn't apply to my vin he still wants to try it to see if they can improve it. I'll give them credit at least there are willing to try to correct the problem. I'll let you know the results.
Well, I printed out the TSB, and took it to the dealer. Parts are ordered, and will be installed this week. No hassle. I'll let you know if this is a fix for me. I do have the related symptoms. Thanks for the "heads up".
Still waiting on the dealer to get the parts, they're back ordered. Seems this mount is a popular item right now. Maybe it actually fixes the problem. I'll keep you posted.
My dealer has the parts on back order also. Sure am getting anxious to find out if this might help. Seems like the shudder is getting worse or maybe it's just my imagination. Hope yours works out.

the service rep told me the shutter isnt severe enough and that because my rear is lifted (extra leaf spring because i was bottoming out) they cant fix it.
I added the leaf spring because they wouldnt do it because i was out of warranty... The shims were installed because they had no fix for it... I told them if i take out the shims it'll shutter like crazy. he pretty much gave me the "i dont give a f*ck" attitude.
I even told the guy I do consulting work for toyota... marketing their vehicles.. how can i market a product if i dont trust in it myself. he didnt care
My dealer called and they finally got the parts to do the tsb for the driveshaft angle. Will be getting in put in next week. Will let you know the results.
