Default Unichip?

$790.00... 39HP and 39TQ... Is it worth it? I am leaning towards yes! It produces roughly 57% of the HP and torque as the TRD Supercharger for only 15% of the price! And the best part is, if you decide to add the supercharger later it can be retuned for the supercharger. Some day I would ultimately like the TRD Supercharger, but until our global economy turns around that is going to have to wait. I also like the fact that it uses piggyback technology rather than rewritting the ECU.

Any one on here have a Unichip installed on their 4.0?

That sounds like a huuuuge ripoff to me. Altering your fuel and air to your stock tacoma engine isn't going to give you those number they claim. If it could have been done safely, toyota would have done it in the first place. Wait for a supercharger if you need the extra power, or a few bolt ons.

i have it on my 'o4 tundra. without having dyo'd it, i doubt you get 10% increase in HP that they claim. Maybe 10HP. biggest difference is that the rpm's don't drop off between shifts and downshifts are much smoother.

Which wouldn't happen with his manual tranny.

I was all excited too... I guess I will just have to wait for the Supercharger.
