Disable 09 Tacoma Daytime Running Lights

I have an O9 Tacoma that came with Daytime Running Lights, and I hate them. Does anyone know how to disable them?

The dealer told me it is not possible, but since they do turn off whenever the headlights are on, I hope whatever turns them off then, can also be triggered when the headlights are off.

I can't believe that any electrical option can't be uninstalled as easily as I can be installed.

If someone could post a copy of the schematic, I think I could figgure it out myself.

Interesting... I have an '09 also, but it has no daytime running lights and I wish it did. Maybe we should trade hehe.

Mine is a black SR5 4x4 with 5-spd manual and a 4 banger

Here is the instruction on how to install DRL. The OP did an excellent write-up, props to him.

DTRL install DIY! - Toyota Forums :: Toyota Nation

It worked for my 08, so I can only assume the 09's are the same. To disable them, you would just need to added the Non-DRL hardware.

Perhaps you guys can swap parts or I'm sure you can find the none DRL relay as many members have done this swap.

I actually should have both sets of parts somewhere in my garage as I added DRL to my truck (I removed the non DRL hardware) but ordered two of everything to add DRL (so now I have an extra DRL relay and harness, still in the box somewhere).

If I can find the parts, and you guys cover shipping, there yours if your interested.

I just ordered a DRL kit for my 08 Tacoma . Wish I would of saw your reply . Do you still have the DRL kit ? I will be willing to part with my non DRL parts when I get the new ones

If you want to temporarily turn your DRL's off then; 1. Shut your truck off. 2. Apply 1 click on the parking brake. 3. Start your truck and notice No DRL's!

Sorry for the late reply (I forgot to select the "Instant Email Notification".

Sorry again, I just sent the parts (literally last week) to another member who wanted them.

You should be able to order the parts from your dealer. I paid around $80 for them.
