The TSB replaces the lame rear springs and all 4 shocks. First couple of times I took my truck in for it they said it didn't need it even though I could bounce on the bumper and almost bottom out the rear. Last time I took it in they said the truck had too many miles on it for the TSB even though my warranty was not up. Good luck.

What year do you have and how many miles. I have seen Toyota do this via a TSB on models from 2005 to 2008. You must be within 36 months and 36,000 miles. But a few dealers allowed them to go over a little.
I am looking for a 2009 TSB on this. It is getting done at some dealers at N/C.
I will keep this thread active and perhaps others can join in too ... with their experiences.
I don't know why you would want to see your year listed on the TSB knowing that you still only have the 3 leaf pack. Call Toyota corporate and tell them you're having bottoming out issues and ask them what changes they made from the 2005-2008 years to the 2009 year to fix the problem as described in the TSB. They should just call your dealership and tell them to fix it.
Again, a TSB is just a "quick solution" for the dealerships to fix a problem. If the problem exists, they have to fix it whether there's a TSB for the problem or not.
Also remember that all tacomas sent to Canada are getting the 4-leaf packs, so you know Toyota is still aware of their problem.

To the OP, I have the same truck as you, 09 trd offroad DC V6 auto. I have driven with 1200 pounds in the bed of mine and still have and inch or so off the bump stops. (120 10 pound bags of ice, don't ask). I have the three leaf pack as well. It even drove fairly well, though I wouldn't recommend loading it down any more than this.

I talked to the dealer last week and the service dept. is hesitating on replacing the rear springs. I though that if I had a TSB that listed the "2009 3 leaf problems", it would make it easier without a cat fight. I would like to make this a clean fix without any drama with Toyota.
Had my transmission replaced at 500 miles on my 2007 Tundra and that one was relatively easy to get done.
Thanks for your info & advice.

With less than 1/2 your load, my truck would be at the bumper stops.

SOS...I have a new "09" Tacoma DC 4x4 V6 A/T TRD. It has the 3 leaf rear springs. The rear springs almost bottom out when I hook up my ATV trailer with 2 ATVs on it. The trailer tongue weight is 300 lbs. (The total weight of the trailer and cargo is 3,000 lbs.) I have a horrible driveline shudder between 15 and 25 mph. I have read about the rear engine insulator and rear spring problems that cause this shudder. I printed the TSBs and gave them to Toyota. They said that the spring and insulator TSBs did not apply to the 09s...Toyota told me that this condition was considered NORMAL....I told the Toyota rep. that I wanted to start the arbitration process since they were not going to fix the problem. I have had this truck for 3 weeks.....They said that they would install the 4 leaf rear springs because they wanted me to be happy with my new truck..... I will let you know if the 4 leaf springs help the spring sag when I hook up the ATV trailer. This truck has more creaks, squeaks and rattles than a 70's Plymouth. My 07 Tundra 4x4 TRD was the same...I think that Toyota's quality has gone down the drain.... If I forget to give you an up-date PM me. The springs will be in some time next week.... Good luck

I have an 09 db cab lb, told dealer about harsh ride with a load in the bed and he said no tsb. Called Toyota in Calf. told them about the tsb covering 05-08 than I told them I have the same springs that are listed on the tsb that Toyota's TSB said needing replacing. The gave me a case number and told me to go to the dealer and have him ck the spring numbers and tell the dealer to call them. When he did he got a code to use the 05-08 tsb on my 09. The 09 updated tsb will not be out until oct. or nov.

It's a kind of a no-brainer. I mean, if the springs have the same part number (which they do), then they are obviously the same part and can be interchanged regardless of what years the TSB lists.
The Toyota parts catalog at the parts counter has a cross-referencing tool for a part number which lists the years and vehicle models a part number is being used in. The parts guy can input the part number of the old 3-leaf pack and it should show that it's used in the 2005-2009 Tacomas of varying models.
It was particularly useful for me when checking parts between various Toyota models when doing my 1MZ swap.
I have an 09DC 2wd long wheelbase. It has the old 3 leaf pack and the parts numbers are listed for replacement on the 08 TSB. The hitch weight on my trailer is only about 300 pounds and although it is not dropping the rear to the stops, I do have a lot of motion when towing. That coupled with the brake problems is giving me pause about towing capability.
I loaded it with bales of hay, and the rear really sunk. I am afraid to put a roll of hay on, which is what I usually haul.
Has anyone in Florida gotten the springs fixed on an 09?
