Default Switch on backup camera while in drive

A while back I saw a thread that spoke of being able to switch on the backup camera while in another gear besides reverse. I did not think much of it at the time and the poor guy who brought up the idea was getting slammed because no one thought it was a good idea. I came up with a need for it. When you pull a small utility trailer you cannot see the trailer in the rearview mirror. This mod would allow the camera to be turned on from time to time to check the load while driving.

I have searched every possible combinations of words and I cannot find the thread. Does anyone else remember this thread?

I'm not so concerned with switching it on while driving directly, but I'd love to find a camera with a compatible signal output... Disconnect the one on the tailgate & wire it up to that camera after I mounted on the back of my cargo trailer.
