Default Steering Question

Hello Everyone,

I have a problem with my steering. I have a 06 Tacoma with 37K. Recently just got my oil changed and had some rear differential fluid replaced. My problem is, that when I turn the wheel to the extreme left or right there is a vibration coming from the wheel well. Its not a sound of metal grinding more like a vibration or something rubbing.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Have a recommendation? Go to the dealer have it checked?

Thanks!

Welcome to TS from N. Calif!

Did the problem start just after the recent service? Fresh oil & gear lube shouldn't cause the problem you describe.... Maybe it's just a coincidence that you started noticing the problem at that time.

Without more info, it sounds like you are describing the front tires rubbing at full lock. What size tire are you running? Stock wheels or aftermarket?

Thanks for the response!!!

I don't think it is a problem with the tires. I took it to Discount Tire and had it checked, they are fine.

It's just a slight vibration from the wheel area I really have no idea what to do. The thing is, is that I just had the 30K service, changed the oil, and none of the mechanics said anything was wrong with it. That it looked fine. If it is a front wheel lock, how do you recommend fixing that problem? Any other suggestions?

The tires may be fine, but there's a reason I asked about your tire size and wheel type. If the tires are larger than one size above stock, or if you have aftermarket wheels with more offset, they could be rubbing at full lock -- which means when the steering wheel is turned as far as it can go in either direction.

It sounds like you need some additive to the differential to stop the chuttering,I had to add this when I replaced the dif fluids on the front and back of mine
