Question rear diff lock

hey all.. new member here. i found the site and thought itd be a good place to swap info and ideas..

i have a 2005 tacoma trd off road 4dr 4wd 6speed. had it for about 6 months. i have a question about the diff lock. i know that it cant be engaged at speeds over 15mph and the light is supposed to stay on when its engaged. now the question... i have done everything by the book on how to engage it. "stop the wheels from rolling, depress the clutch, press the button, and slowly release the clutch pedal." however, the light on the instrument panel continues to blink at me. i even read in another post on here that it has to be in 4LO.. tried that as well with the same results. whats goin on with my truck?

thanks in advance

Must be in 4-lo (unless you do the mod to allow it in any range) and then it will blink until it is engaged. The more you use it the easier it will go in. After you push the button in 4-lo it helps if you can drive several feet and even better if you can turn a little while driving. This helps the gears line up so they can be locked.
