Default Wheel bearing and hub replacement

The Toyota dealer said I need a new front wheel bearing, hug and seals replaced and then another front end alignment which I just had done. This is due to the vibration/humming I am getting in the front end. This is a 4x4 06 tacoma. 33k +- miles. I am out of full warranty by two months. They want $800 to repair this. My question is...Is this not covered under the powertrain warranty since it is a 4x4? Thank you for the responses.

Default Re: Wheel bearing and hub replacement

if it is a 4wd, i think it should be covered. it's part of the drive wheels.

but if i remember correctly, i think it's just a 1 piece assy that has already been pressed in and just bolts in to your knuckle w/ 4 bolts.

I just had this done on my 05 4x4. It had been humming for 1.5 yrs. Last yr the dealer said they replaced the 4x4 diff up front. Did nothing. I have a feeling he was b.s'g me. Recently & before my 60k miles, I took it in again. I think they said it was not covered under the pwr train warranty but was covered on my Platinum warranty. I'm not sure on that though. I do recall it would've been close to 1k. End result, it did stop the noise. They did say this was unusual as they should last much much longer than 40k miles. Call another dealer to see if it is covered. I would think it would be.

The only thing I can think of is I used to go backwards up a steep hill in 4x4 for about 75 ft. That is the only offroading this truck has been thru.
