Default Called my local toyota dealer about transmission service? Guess what they said?

Ok I called my local Toyota dealer in my area Shore Toyota about having my transmission serviced and talked to a guy in the service dept.

He told me $99.00 drain and refill so I asked him if they replace the transmission filter and do a full fluid flush? He told me that the transmission filter is a screen and is non serviceable and they don't flush all the fluid they just drain the pan and refill the pan of what they take out

So I call another Toyota dealer a little further away from where I live Turnersville Toyota and ask about having my transmission serviced in my 05 tacoma

The guy said it will cost $199.00 for a full fluid flush with WS fluid and that the filter is a screen and is non serviceable.

Why is it that one dealer won't flush the trans fluid but the other will?

Also I looked up the trans filter online and brought up a part number and photo of the transmission filter for my truck? I'm really confused here about the transmission service?

Here is the link for the transmission filter I found for my 2005 Tacoma--->http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/...ek+Google+Base

Can someone please shed some light on this topic?

The first place you went to just didn't know enough about your truck. I guarantee you that if you'd dropped it off for the $99 drain and fill, then you would have gotten a call later explaining that they can't do a drain and fill and have to do a "flush" which would cost you more (and they probably would have quoted you more than the $199 I bet). I hate those off-the-cuff quotes when they aren't even familiar with your vehicle and have no clue (or maybe they knew what they were doing because you'd agree to a higher price once they had it for the day?) ...thus the reason I found a service adviser I like and trust and won't use anyone else. It does make a difference (as you've already discovered).

I just had mine done and it cost 199 for the flush and refill. When I called for the quote, the service manager said they replace the filter. Maybe he was mistaken about the filter on the Tacoma, but I trust my dealer, they have fixed several things for us that were slightly out of warranty, but they covered it under warranty anyway.

If the parts are available, then it looks like it's replaceable. Not sure how hard it is to replace however.
