Ams oil, Mobil 1 to my limited knowledge have really proven themselves to be quite reliable and of high quality. Really, any good quality synthetic that is readily available to you will prove to be much better than a traditional motor oil. Which one you ultimately choose may be based on cost, store availability or what they offer at the local jiffy lube. I have personally known people to use both and are very happy.

Good luck!

All three are good. If you have oil questions the best place to look is bobistheoilguy.com. You'll be able to read everything you ever wanted to know about oil.

Using a brand name and changing regularly is the most important. I have never used a synthetic and have lived in some extremely cold climates (Upper Penisula of Michigan) and the Mojave desert area of Southern California. A specific brand is not that important as long as you use one that meets or exceeds the manufacturers recommendation. What good is synthetic if you still have to change at the regularly scheduled intervals in order to maintain the warranty. It is similar to gasoline. When I was growing up in the fifties some people would use only a certain brand, as all others were no good. Guys, all of this stuff is generic and comes out of the same hole in the ground. Go to a refinery and you will see trucks with different brand labels on the tanker coming from the same facility.

.

Go to the oil experts on Class 1 to Class 4 Oils. --> Which are true(!) PAO (Class IV) Motor Oil brands? - Bob Is The Oil Guy

IMO .. Amsoil, **Motul & Royal Purple are probably the best. **Subaru racing team used to use Motul.

I use Mobile 1 Extended and change it every 3,500 miles or so. I also use a premium oil filter and IMO, TRD filters are better than standard Toyotas oil filters (from their cut aways).

Congrats on your new truck!

I use Mobil 1 in my BMW car and intend to switch my Taco over to it also when the warranty expires. No idea whether it's better than Royal Purple or any other synthetic, but it's readily available everywhere and I trust will continue to be, and my local mechanic keeps it in stock.

But until then, I have the Taco oil changes done at my Toyota dealer using whatever they recommend, and I also have them rotate the tires each time and at 30K miles it's pretty amazing how even the tread wear as well as how much tread is left. The tires still look almost like new! To me it seems worthwhile to leave servicing the truck in the hands of the dealer as much as possible as long as the warranty is in effect. That way, if anything goes wrong, there's NO chance they can blame it on anyone else.
