Default 2010 Nerf Bars or Side Steps

I just got my 2010 Tacoma Access Cab with Off Road package. It did not come with a step or side bars. Should I get them installed from the dealer or has anyone done this themselves? Any suggestions for brand or style?

I bought Dee Zee tube steps for my 2005 Tacoma right after I got it. They are well made with a nice powder coated finish, have held up to 4 salty Ohio winters and were easy to bolt on. I attached a picture of them on my Access Cab Sport Tacoma.

Easy to do yourself. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with the N-Fabs. Nothing wrong with the Westin Platinum bars I have, but I just like the N-Fabs better. Here's a link to a pic with the Westin on:

And if you want to know how they mount, check out this album with lots of underneath pics:

i have the n-fab nerf step bars and like them (medical trouble)
i would think about why you want the bars first
if for wife/girlfriend well your decision ;-D
if it because they look cool then get them but
i know more than one person that has taken them off. they stick out and usually get your pant cuf dirty, and can be harder to get into the truck and out. and if you are getting them for door protection, well probably won't offer the protection you are thinking of. nerf bars/steps/running boards you have all kinds of options
the n-fab bars bolt up to existing cab holes i had mine on in way less than a hour if you call n-fab, talk to "missy" i payed more than most but i had to have them modified for me and they did it , and all the others just ask, black, chrome and credit card number

I looked everywhere for the bars I was after.Located 'em at Quality Bumper.com. I needed a Wheel to Wheel style because of how useful my other two trucks were that had 'em.If you go to the web-site and scroll down to Wheel to Wheel nerfbars then scroll to the last truck, thats mine, along with what I said to Luis(sales guy) about the bars.

Phantom, Thanks for the advice about making it harder to get in/out. My motive for considering the step or bars is two reasons, 1) my wife does have a little trouble climbing in and 2) the side view of the truck seems to be missing something (looks cool with them). I will re-think the decision for a step but I see now that they seem to be very easy to intall.

My wife does use them to get into and out of my truck - I don't need them for that myself, but I also don't find them to be in the way at all either. I mainly got them because I think they make the truck look better from the side, and they really do seem to cut down on the number of stone chips you get down the side of the cab and the lower front part of the bed.

ya gotta look into exactly what you want ;-D
now a suggestion to see if they help the wife
to see if they would help me before i spent a good amount of coin i got a step stool and used a phone book and set it up to the approximate height of my step bars. then i tried getting in and out of my truck and would the distance away from the cab and height help me

i see you are in cold country, so also check out and make sure the step won't be slippery when ice, some of the3 nerf bars just have like a rubber pad for a step

^ Ahh, but in the snow that's when they are so worth it. They help getting in without tracking all the snow/mud into the truck. Stand on the nerf bar (not slippery at all) and tap the side of the shoes against the door sill and dump all that snow outside before getting in. My wife uses them for the same purpose and to help her get into the truck sometimes. They're a must for kids to get in on their own. Oh, and they're great when you want to wash the windshield.
