Were his lips moving when he said that? I stopped by a local dealer yesterday looking for 05 literature and they said they not only do not have any 05 literature or 05 vehicles but don't know when they will get any. They too have a bunch of 04's on their lot.
Longo Toyota, the largest Toyota (and car) Dealer in the world, has confirmed twice with me that they will be getting the new 05s on the lot starting October 15th. Sounds like some dealers want to sell some 04s badly!
I read a news release from the manager of the NUMMI plant, and it confirmed that the new Tacoma should start leaving the factory tomorrow (9/20). That should put them on dealer lots by mid October, I would think - I bet he story about a delay is normal dealer BS, just to move the existing '04 models.
Usually big dealerships will get allocations or information first. Also, I meant Oct. 18th.
As far as $4000 over MSRP I really kind of doubt it, as you could get more truck in an 05 Tundra for cheaper. However, If the demand is really THAT strong for the new Tacoma on release I will be waiting until Nov/Dec when inventory beefs up. I've already spoke to a few dealers that said they wouldnt markup past MSRP.
I also read an article that Toyota plans on offering incentives right out of the gate on the 05's. We shall see though, only time will tell.
As a last bit of info, Carson Toyota has/had one listed already in their new inventory on their website. They said it was being built on Sept 27th and that they usually get their new vehicles 10 days after build date. That puts it at October 10th, apprx.
Ya I figured as much. Because after I told him I had recently spoekn to the Fleet Manager of a local Toyota dealership that I have ties with, he started to tapdance a little.
But, for those of interested in X-Runners... alot of the dealerships around don't have them on their lists yet, which means they won't be cruising in when the regular new 05 Tacomas come. I tried to see if any are coming in so I could put a deposit down and they don't show anything inbound or being made at the factory for at least the next 30 days.
So the MSRP on a 2004 Ext. Cab V-6 is about what? $19,200? Meaning Toyota is wanting ~$4,000 more on the MSRP 2005 model. Well less because the 2005 has more standard features.
It'll be interesting to see if we have any factory incentives on the 2005 taco's this year. Everyone but BMW is seeing a decline in auto sales this year. I just don't want to pay MSRP for a new vehichle. Just out or not!
HKING, per your website. I noticed the MSRP of the 2004 is only $1000 less than the 2005. The MSRP of $19,200 for the 2004 taco ext. cab v-6 was off carsdirect.com. So perhaps the price difference between the 2004 and 2005 is somewhere in between? ($1,000 - $4000)
I went to price out an 04 V6 Xtra Cab with the same options (minus Power locks/windows/etc) and the difference was $2543.00. Not sure how much all the power options are, but even if you strech it at $1000, it looks like the price of that model Tacoma went up about $1500.00? Or do the Xtra cabs come with all power? I could be wrong.
If it's about a $1500 price increase thats about a 7.5% increase from 04's to 05's.
However considering the fact you are getting quite a bit more truck in size and in power, thats not too outrageous, no?
Of course that Carson Toyota MSRP could have a HUGE markup over Manufacturer MSRP and all of this speculation is wrong....
Guess we will still have to remain patient until Toyota releases official MSRP.
I recieved an email from a Toyota dealer stating this on price:
"We have a silver V6 pre-runner extended cab coming in. That truck has an MSRP of $23,951. The truck has the SR5 package # 3."
Wonder what else this has on it as its more than the first MSRP for the same truck I found on www.carsontoyota.com
The same dealer mentioned a similar Double cab with TRD-Off road model will probably come in around the 25-26,000 range but she had no official price.
Either that or these trucks are getting more expensive by the minute
In any event, I've been told by more than a few dealers that they will be getting their "show/test drive" units the last week of September and first week of October. Then more units will start hitting lots mid-late October that will be readily available for sale.
Looks like I may be getting myself a Halloween present this year!
