I'd have to disagree - I think it stands on its own merit. It does have shades of Nissan in the dash elements IMO. That's gonna be a real be-otch for aftermarket audio components tho'!

There are definitely elements overall that I like - others I don't... but hey - dig those alloys!! Sweet!

I'm curious about some of the accessories too. Particularly the hitch. From looking at the pre-release specs there is no mention of wether the base unit comes with a factory Class IV hitch ala the Tundra and 4Runner. Would be nice if it did, the hitch and prewiring is a nice extra on those units.

The class IV hitch and pre-wiring will be part of the trailer towing package, along with a larger battery, alternator, and an external tranny oil cooler.

I think it looks pretty good for just looking at the pictures. I also have to add that the front has a Nissan Frontier look to it, but not near the bulky overkill that the Nissan has. I think the interior is fairly basic looking. Overall I think it looks pretty good for a first look. Also , ditto Jeff on the stereo, it ain't gonna be no picnic to modify!

Default '05 Tacoma Bed Size Vs. Tundra?

Hey folks,

I'm contemplating trading in my '02 Tundra for a new 05 Tundra Double cab due to family circumstances. Rumour has it that the new Taco's bed size is almost as large as that of the Tundra.

Anyone in the know have any specifics? Say Taco Access Cab vs. Tundra Access cab, and double cab vs. double cab? I have scoured the web for the dimensions on the '05 Taco but to no avail.

Anyone?

Cheers
Asif

Ummm... are we talking Tacoma or Tundra here?!

I reckon I'll have to "assume" you're asking about the Tacoma. Anyway... as for the Access Cab models (i.e. Tacoma vs. Tundra) I'm not quite sure... but I "think" the Tundra's bed "may" be a little wider... not sure about depth?!

As for the DC models... I think the Tundra's bed is probably going to be somewhat wider and deeper. I'm basing that entirely, on the info already available about how much deeper (most importantly) and then the width of the Tundra DC's bed is over the Tundra AC model. That said... I "kinda" have my doubts the Tacoma DC's bed will be bigger that the Tundra DC's bed. Granted it'll be... "as long"... but I think that's probably where the comparison will end.

Then again... without "actual specs"... I'm just shootin' from the hip here with MPO.

Wow....great comparo; thanks.

And oh, having once again read my somewhat misleading post, I apologize. What I intended to say, is given the new dimensions of the Tacoma, I may contemplate purchasing it, over the '05 Tundra when I trade in m'02 Tundra later this year!

Thanks again.

Default Well, its "cute"...

but based on these photos I don't think I will be tempted to trade in the Tundra.

I would, however, kill for the flashlight holder on the back wall!

Default 05' Taco color choices

Does anyone have any info on color choices for the 05' yet? I am sure they still have white, black, red, and maroon as always, but, my dealer says he has a blue 05' TRD 4X4 SR5 coming in this week which will be the first 05' Taco in a 2 hour driving radius here. So, needless to say, I would love to get my hands on it, but am unsure of what color 'BLUE' my dealer is talking about. Is there only the one color blue that I keep seeing from the xrunner posted on all the pics, or is there another blue? If its the xrunner blue, I think I will wait. Still contemplating an 05' Tundra limited TRD 4X4, but really like the looks of the Taco. Any info would help on the color and what do you all think are pros and cons to both vehicles? THanks everyone!
