Wow. That's been one thing keeping me from adding an SC to my 3.4 V6! SO I guess it won't matter then when they make a Super Charger for the 4.0 - will take the same gas?
The American public is spoiled, rotten in fact. Everywhere else in the world except Saudi Arabia maybe, is paying a kings ransome for fuel. Take the UK for example where they pay roughly 7.00 US / gallon. Where I live in Alberta Canada where we sit on a bazillion barrels of oil, I pay over 4 dolla/ gallon and I drive a premium gas guzzellin, fire breathin S/C V8. To put it in perspective, fresh water will soon be more than gas in America. The future of SUV is gas/electric, or smaller displacement Turbo desiels.

Granted, this may be true to some extent - but you won't necessarily be driving a 4x4 Tundra through London traffic in rush hour either. (Do they even have a rush hour in London?) If indeed we had better mass-transit in the US (although very few cities actually do) then it would be a different story. Perhaps if gas was $4US (not that Canadian play money ) then there would be greater pressure to condense the population and provide better mass transit. In the mean time, I have to sit on a freeway with thousands of other idiots trying to squeeze on down the road to where I need to be - when I need to get there.

Funny, that is just about the exact same thing I said in another thread in the Tacoma area. Cheap gas and large freeways just feeds the habbit.
I would love to take my truck over to europe (but get a lift first) for a jaunt. That would be tons of fun to have a big old beast of a vehicle in a see of pea sized cars. I wouldn't want to do it too long, after the first few tanks of gas I'll bet the novelty would wear off.

I have a S/C'd v6 in my Tundra and I've found the easiest way to deal with the higher price of gas is just put your credit card in the pump. Then never look at it. When the nozzle kicks off, put it back in the pump and drive off. Couldn't tell you what my last couple of tanks have cost me.
I'd be interested in testing that method out, how soon can you send me your credit card?
Why does everyone always get bent out of shape on gas? What's the difference between regular and premium? 20 cents per gallon? Get the hell over it. If you can't stand to pay an extra 20 cents a gallon to have a TRUCK, then go get yourself a new, spiffy little hybrid or Aveo.

You toyota blind loyalists will justify anything to do with toyota. I know toyota makes a quality vehicle, but for things you rag on other manufacurers, you let go for toyota. I guarantee if Dodge or Nissan came out with a new truck that required 91 premium gas you would flame those companies. Plan and simple NO truck should require premium unless the badge says Range Rover. Instead of trying to increase the output of an engine this way, they should use their V8 or design a new one. 20 cents a gallon is alot when you buy one and find out it gets an average of 14 mpg instead of the stated 19.

Its not that we're spoiled its that your government (and the euro's) tax the heck out gas.
I have diven the 2005 tacoma and have confirmed with the dealer, who went to an educational confrence to test drive and learn about the new tacoma, that it definetly doesn't require premium gas. 87 is recommended. Hope this puts everyones mind at ease it did for me. It also provided me with the info I needed to pick the right truck.
