That's cool, but who cares.
Most commercials don't tell you crap about anything they're selling. At least the Taco commercials show the bed tie-down system, along with some beautiful women. At least they're homorous, and don't take selling a truck as a life and death matter. With months of political campaign mud-slinging commercials rammed down our throat, it's nice to see a commercial that makes most people laugh. Oh, and they have beautiful women
Toyota's reputation and the looks of the truck get people to the dealership. You can find out everything else about it on this forum.
If you remember the commercials, that means they stood out... good or bad. That's what they're shooting for.
Commercial's are biased anyway... Ford F-150 commercials are misleading... Chevy still totes the "Most dependable, longest lasting truck on the road" slogan (what a joke)... and Dodge can't shoot a commercial without the word HEMI in it. I'll take the Taco commercials over the rest any day.

Yeah, those commercials are just good ole fun. They even make fun of themselves, using the word 'versatilier'. I thought that 50foot jump was cool. That Teaser commercial I hadn't seen, they must have strapped a camera to one of Ivan's $200k race trucks during a Baja run. Sweet!

2005 Silver Sienna LE with 12" Overhead DVD
I am going to put a deposit on a 2005 Double Cab 4x4 this week. It will have the SR5 Package #5 (Power, Alloys, Tow Hitch). I was wondering if anyone else has purchased a similar truck and would be interested in your initial thoughts.
Very nice truck, pretty quiet, handles well, rides a bit rough, but it's a truck aye? Lots of power (at least to me), roomy - glad I bought it - enjoy yours
Mileage is about 17-18 in town and 20-22 on the road (when not towing).
Only problem so far is shimmy, first in the front end, a dealership said that they balanced the front tires and took care of (pretty much). Then when towing I noticed a similar shimmy that wasn't feeding through the steering wheel. Dealership sent me to a tire shop and they checked and rebalanced all four wheels (three of them needed rebalancing one was OK).
I think it's definitly a huge improvment in interior quality. The materials are higher grade especially the seats. As for mechanical, i don't really like the fact that the driveshafts and u-joints are made by Dana-spicer, which also supplies Jeep and Dodge. Toyota U-joints have always been really strong and last forever, so why did they change?
Hmmm, Dana though would most likely build to Toyota's specifications correct? Which would mean more durability. However, Jeep's are very good off road so maybe this isn't a bad thing. Are the 4.0L V6's built and designed in Japan?
I would of never thought Japan would spend good research time and money comming up with a US market 4.0L engine...
I mean the engine is such a huge displacement it'll look like a monster over in Japan... They usually stay with low displacement and force induction...
The Chicago show states that the head designer IS Japanese but was the first one to fly and stay in the states for the entire project... This was a Toyota first... So I'm guessing we'll have to dig in on the design of the 4 Runner to be sure because it's the same engine and the 4 has been out longer...
All I have to say is that Toyota trucks do a pretty good job of staying in one piece.. A question about its durability is WAY too early to answer intellectually... Anything you get would be assumptions at this point...
If you don't have to, I'd urge you to wait a year before buying... If you must, I'd still say it's better than the competition (unless 05 Forester which I was looking at before ordering the XRunner)...
The commercials with Darrell Waltrip are awesome. He was the one jumping the truck with a boat in tow I think. He's also in one where he said he would use the new powerful Tundra to get his tools back from his neighbor......Then it shows him hooking a chain to the neighbor's garage door and pulling it off!!! GREAT STUFF
