TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "If you could make only 2 modifications? (Tacoma)", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
got the same silver doublecab prerunner...I need some tube steps...and a skid plate...waiting for some manufacturers to come up with some aftermarket intakes, exhaust, headers, nice rims...that's more than two huh? Oh well...let me know if you know any good side bars/...
Add navigation option.
Get rid of the cheesy non-standard silver center radio console. There is no way to add a stereo of your choice post sale!
Increase the payload capacity to 1700lbs to carry a decent truck camper.
1) the old style transfer case lever (this should never been dropped)
2) a mechanical limited slip rear -in addition to the current locker
3) more available off road hardware on the TRD moldels. IE A locker for front diff. or maybe a steel front bumber with integrated winch.
4) A off switch for all electric traction divices VDC TRAC if so equipped. They're fine for most driving situations but would be great to have a choice!!
5) The 4x4 regular cab should be available with the V6. Why only a four cyl.? Isn't the reg cab the work truck model- should have most available power? Think about how quick it would be!! hehe
The nav system option would have been nice, there is plenty of room where the ashtray would have gone.
I would have liked to have gotten it without the Alloy wheels (which I of course had to pay for) and put my own choice of wheels on.
2 rather small wishes. The truck need to have the wheels rebalanced after delivery (front end shimmy), other than that I love it. Haven't had it long enough to check the actual mileage
I don't know what moost of the acronyms above mean, but here are my two.
I currently have a 97 Taco excab 2wd, but been looking at 4cab 4x4 sport.
- Lower to the ground on 4x4. I don't do offroad, but do a lot of landscaping. I would prefer the tailgate be as low as possible and most importantly the sides of the beds be below my elbows. Imagine shoveling dirt/bark/whatever standing next to the bed. If rim is below elbow, no problem. If above, then I will need to replace elbow skin often.
- Power down rear window from the Tundra. I can't believe they didn't include that. I really want that. When I cary 10' 2x4's, pvc pipes, etc, it is nice to open the rear window and slide the parts into the passenger compartment. These are just home projects, I'm not a pro, So I don't want the whole cage gizmo to handle long parts. On the quadcab the truck can probaly eat 10foot stock without anything sticking out the back.
1)suspension/body-6 inch suspension lift 2 inch body lift, 35" mickey thompson baja Claws on 15x12.5 black rock crawler rims, real skid plates all around. Rhino Lining coat on underside and inner sheetmetal, along with coating lower 1/4 panels and fender flares, some sort of bumper to failitate a Warn winch.
2)engine/drivetrain-Snorkel intake with K&N filter, Flowmaster dual exhaust, Supercharger when they come out with it, headers, full set of lockers, larger brakes
