TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Is this normal on an '01 Tacoma? (radiator fins)", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am helping my sister-in-law buy a Tacoma 4WD V6. We found one that fits her, but while I was looking it over, I noticed that the radiator fins on the inside of the engine compartment (in front of the fan) are pretty bent up. There were probably 15 of them that were completely flattened or bent in. I know that they bend easily but was wondering if this is normal or a sign of something. The radiator looks stock as does the rest of the front end, so I don't think it was in accident.
Comparing to mine ('03 Tacoma) is no use because I smashed up the front of mine a few months after I got it and the body shop replaced the radiator.
this is not normal, nor good. you can try to straighten them out very carefully, butyeah something hit it. maybe not an "accident" but, something hit the radiator/.
