This is a discussion thread titled "05 Tacoma SRS (airbag light)", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
HI All,
Just purchased an 05 Prerunner access cab 4.0L w/TRD Offroad package OG.
I just noticed that in the clock bar the Passenger "Airbag" light stays lit when the key is in the on position with no passenger, the airbag on/off lights (currently in on position) only come on temporarily when the key is turned on then it goes out. The SRS indicator in the Dash appears to be functioning normally, on for 6 seconds when key is turned on then goes out. Is this normal? Hadn't noticed it before.

That is normal. If you have a passenger above a certain weight (60lbs I think?) then the "ON" light will stay lit, if they are under the specified weight then the "OFF" light will stay lit. And you will also see the seatbelt light flash if there is a passenger of any weight in the seat without a seatbelt. If there is no passenger in the seat then the "AIRBAG" light will stay lit, but there is no "ON" of "OFF" light. This is so the airbag is turned off when you have a child in the front seat and you don’t need to worry about turning a manual switch.
