This is a discussion thread titled "2005 tacoma gauge install.", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
have you got the sensors installed yet? if so where did you hook into the oil and trans to get accurate readings?
I have gotten the trans temp installed but I think i will be moving it. I originally put it in the inlet to the cooler but It has been reading 100 degs or less on these cold days. It will get to 125 after running a while then stopping at a light. It got to around 150 when I loaded the truck up with green firewood and towing a trailer with brush on it. I don't think it is getting the best reading there. I will be doing the rest of the installs later as soon as the snow stops falling. I seem like we keep getting a storm every week so it is not fun to get under a salty truck with sand and snow falling on you.

anyone know where to hookup a aftermarket tach guage up to what wires or wire.
Funny thing you ask, Soon as I get my X back from the shop I am going to be installing a ShiftLight. I had been searching fro about 5 weeks or so for the right wire and I just had a buddy look at the Die I had and he found the wire.
Tach wire is black and white wire in Connector A pin #7 on the ecu

Have you gotten the oil pressure guage hooked up yet? If so where did you hook it to?
Nope not yet. I still have to figure out the size of the stock idiot sensor plug and get a manifold to hook up everthing. I need time off from work and school before I can do these projects.

Looks good, but IMHO gauges at that position are truely pointless. If you check them as often as you should while driving, them being at that position is just plain dangerous.
The gauges he is installing are not critical. If I had those there, I would do an occassional sweep to see there position. If luggin up a big hill with a load once again maybe sweep past them for position, not for exact reading. Something you learn when you take flying lessons. Nice job with the gauges
