This is a discussion thread titled "2005 tacoma gauge install.", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Install looks good. Curious on where you are hooking in on the oil pressure and trans temp? I've been thinking about an oil pressure gauge (elec) but I've been looking for a pod to mount it on the A-pillar.

I have to find out if there is plug on the block like the 3.4's had that would make it easy but I have not gotten a chance to look yet. I am going to try to avoid tapping the trans pan for the sensor. I may see if I can tap the line going to the trans cooler.

also can you please get a pic of how you mounted the plate up? I wanna do the same thing just can't find out how to mount them in there
Sure I can post some pics soon. The plate I made just sits in the cubby along the defined edge that is there and the cup holder presses it in tight. It has not budged since it has been in but it is real easy to get it out for changing bulbs.

Where can I find metal pieces like that? I think a piece of black anodized brushed aluminum would look pretty cool in there.
I went to advanced auto parts and bought an aluminium diamond plate mud flap and cut to fit, then painted it black. It now matches the black husky liners since they have the diamond plate tread on them.

Okay here is an update. I hooked up the trans temp gauge. I figured I would try the easy cheap route. I installed the gauge in a brass fitting and then some barbed ends into the cooler out hose right by the cooler itself. I do get a reading. BUT I KNOW IT IS NOT ACURATE. with the gauge I am running that goes from 100 degs to like 250 the needle has only gotten to like 125 while sitting in drive at a light(or dunkin donuts) and it drops to about or below 100 while driving. It is cold weather here so this could be cooling the sensor down also. I will be relocating this sensor soon to the hard line right out of the trany or cough up some bucks and get it in the pan.
One thing I found out is the grill of these tacomas come out really easy!!!
I will keep ya'll posted.
