That's why I was saying I would love to see a dyno of the two engines. I wonder if the Tacoma has a more flat torque and horsepower curve. That would explain why it accelerates faster than the Frontier.

Here is what I found per K&N atleast, not sure if this has been posted before:

Frontier: http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/63-6014.pdf

Tacoma: http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/77-9025.pdf

It accelerates faster because it has a stiffer set of gears in the diff and its lighter.the toyota gears are around a 3.73 the nissan about a 3.42. If you could drop the VQ40 from a frontier into the tacoma i bet you would shave at least a half second off its 1/4 mile et.

You may be right, but from the factory the Tacoma beats the Frontier in all acceleration even when loaded with 1,000 lbs. True you could put lower gears in the Frontier but you could also go lower in the Tacoma. You can also add intake/exhaust to the Tacoma to bring the engine power up, but you could do the same to the Frontier. My oppinion is they are both great trucks and very comparable in all aspects.

I have this "problem" in my Sienna as well so it's a non-issue for me.
I have a 16 month old and a 3 1/2 year old -both in car seats and they fit very well in the Tacoma D/C. This was the deciding factor for me also, and ruled out the Frontier. (The 3 yr old kicks the seats too, so I put her on the passenger side. The seat has a plastic back on this side.)
