How long did everybody have to wait to get their trucks after the build day?
My dealer told me two weeks after the build day. I live on the east coast so i guess thats not to bad...

Sure two weeks after the build date but 8 weeks to get a build date. Check some of the other threads. I've commented as well as several others. Seems like the average no matter where in the nation you are is 6 weeks to 3 months. I'm 1 hour from the factory and watch the rail cars go by all the time with new Toyota's.. still 3 months here. Also depends on what you order as well. Seems like a lot of dealers have good stock of prerunner's and access cabs but not a lot of 4x4 DC with the extra packages on them.
I ordered mine in November, got it end of Jan. The Build date (which is on a sticker located in the inside driver side door) was Jan-05. No day specified. So, it could have been 1 week or 3 weeks after the build date that I received it. But total, 2.5 months to get the vehicle after I ordered it. But I think for me the main issue was the Side Curtain Airbags which were not available in New England.
I am having a strange thing happen with my order. I was told the build date was 1-25-05. It was a truck that they were going to get anyway; no special options to delay it. I even gave her a deposit to hold that truck for me. I was supposed to get it two weeks later. Well, it's past two weeks, so I e-mailed the internet manager three days ago to ask if she had heard anything. No reply to the e-mail, so I phoned yesterday and was told she was talking to another customer and would call me back. So, it has been 24 hours since my call and still no return call. I don't understand what is going on. Should I go above her head and contact the dealership boss and complain about the lack of communication? I'm in Southern California and the truck is made in Northern California, so it is only a 6 hour drive from the factory to my house. I've read where many other people on this board have gotten their trucks two weeks after the build date. Any suggestions on what to do now?
[quote=j4x4ar3]Same basic issues here... all depends on what you order. The more "loaded" you make your vehicle the longer it's going to take.
Not really true. If you truly order one, it makes no difference what you put on it. If you are just "waiting on one" to show up in inventory, less options means more chances...maybe sooner.
Ok. Mine says 1-05-2005 on the drivers side door. It was delivered here in SC on Feb 3rd.
On mine, it just says: "01/05" -- I assume that means January 2005 with no day specified, not 01/05/05. Makes me wonder since the two previous posts state their build dates were 1/5/05 -- seems to be more than a coincidence.

Even an order has to wait on the factory to run production. They only run so many of a particular model through at a time based on demand.. basic assembly line production. If you note the inventory across the nation they are full of Access Cabs and Prerunners. Not as many DC's and not as many 4x4 so if you want those options you have to wait for the production runs for those. Accessories yes a true order won't make a difference to some extent.

I looked at mine again and it says 01/05 as well. Don't know why I read that at 1/5/2005. So I don't actually know what day of the month mine was manufactured.
I ordered mine on 12/5 and was told build date was 12/21. I was told I should have it by the first or second week of Feb. I emailed the salesman this morning, so hopefully will know more when I get home tonight.
