Default Anyone have package VD or VE with their new 05?

Just curious to see if anyone has picked up a new 05 with Vehicle Stability Control (Package VD) or Vehicle Stability Control w/Downhill Assist (Package VE) Both packages are supposed to be unique for this class of truck and Toyota is supposed to be the first manufacture to offer such packages on the smaller trucks. Nissan offers something similar to VE on the Frontier and the 4Runner has the package standard an all 4WD models.

Just curious to see if anyone has either package and if so did you order it or was it on the lot when you went to purchase your truck? The reviewers for the 05 Tacoma brag about the fact the option is available and Consumer Reports states it brings a lot more stability in general to operating a pickup in icy or snowy conditions. I can't seem to find a dealer that has one though and ordered mine... uggg...

I've been waiting to hear the answer too. I was at a Toyota dealership over the weekend, and the salesperson could not find a Tacoma equipped with VSC on any in the pipeline search. Also this is the Northeast USA area where it would be a useful option. My best guess is that Toyota has yet to release this option to the market.

I have one on order just like what you have in your sig line. I am in the PNW and one of the dealers have the exact truck on their lot. I would be in it but they would not haggle on the price.

From my understanding the VSC is the same as the 4Runner and is the only way to get the side impact airbags in the 4wd Tacomas.

Hmm... what dealership has one? Sure would like to get my hands on it.
Did the dealer tell you how long your order would take?

I'm from Canada and they have different package names up here but my I bought the TRD Access Cab 4x4. It came standard with the locker, fog lights, auto dimming mirrors, bed outlet, ABS and Vehical Stability Control. I don't have downhill assist though! The VSC light comes on when I'm in 4 low and lets me know that it has been disabled. I've never noticed it though!

My friend bought a trd double cab with the downhill assist and the stablity control here in northern MT. It seems as though finding these with these options are few and far between.

The word is 6 weeks they thought maybe sooner as there was one in assembly that had everything I wanted, they would need to realocate it. I should know later this week the exact ship date.

The dealer with one on there lot is Tom Scott Toyota in Nampa, Idaho.

Hello fellow Ontarian. I have the same truck as you. I've yet to notice any indication of VSC on my rig. I will try the 4Lo trick and see if a warning light comes on to indicate that it's off. According to the manual, VSC shows up when it's active during a loss of traction. Never seen it come on...powerslide around the corners does nothing. My truck is the SR5 with the TRD off road package. This is supposed to be the fully loaded model, why don't we have all of the bells and whistles?

I'll have to ask the Toyota folks at the auto show this weekend in Toronto.

Hmm... one in production... let's see who's dealer is faster :-) .. j/k I've been waiting 6 weeks already ugg and my dealer still says they don't have a time yet.. of course they're only made 1 hour away from here.. :-)

Thanks for the information on the dealer as well. I pulled up their site and will see if my dealer can grab theirs... only problem with living in CA is all the emissions junk that other states don't have in a lot of cases makes it hard to get a vehicle from out of state. I'd be curious to know when you get a date on yours.

BTW-- I just passed the information to my dealer.. maybe there's another one that can be redirected my way. :-) .. thanks again for the info

There is another in the southwest that I could have had for another $400 (for shipping).

The white color with the JBL upgrade seems to be a ltiile trickier for them to get.

You know what I was wrong, it's the ABS light that comes on not the VSC. Yeah I was expecting the downhill assist and was kinda bumed that it didn't have it. Now I don't think I have VSC. What's up with that. I too thought, here I'm getting all the bells and whistles that I had read about and then found out that I wasn't. Please get some answers from Toyota!!
