Default Hood Scoop

I am about to order my 05 Taco DCab, 4x4, indigo, and would prefer the limited slip, to the locking dif. So I am thinking of going with the sport pkg. The problem is I don't want the hood scoop.

If I order the Sport, does anyone WANT my hood? We can trade straigt up. Not sure what it would cost to paint, or if it would be an issue with warrenty.

Maybe I will just have to live with it. Or..

move down to pkg #8 and upgrade my suspension, tires, rims... but that may cost me more than its worth.

Any ideas?

If it had a super charger I would leave it. Without it.. its like wearing a water bra to the prom. Eventually someones gona find out its fake.

I really like the Baja rims too. So downgrading then upgrading seems like a nice way to get something a little more "me" and a little less off the shelf.

Anyone know where to get invoice pricing on all the options? edmunds and Toyota both have a limited selection of the available options.

Another member of this site provided this site as a reference (couldn't find the thread)... By far, the best one I have seen as well. Going through this, you will notice only one hit on the 05 Tacoma initially (Access Cab), select that hyperlink and all cab configurations will be available.

Yes there are many more however by entering your ZIP code the items available in your area are displayed. Not everything is available in all areas. For instance the leather interior is not available out here in CA.

I think I may have posted the origional link to Costco. You may also try http://www.nadaguides.com as well. Not quite as clean as the Costco interface but it will give you another point of reference.

BTW - Try the attached XLS spreadsheet. I tried to pull from all the resources I found to create a list of what each of the packages contain. Let me know if you find it usefull. Can't guarentee if it's 100% accurate but it may help you figure out what is what. I have prices listed on the second sheet as well. You'll see how I configured mine. Have fun.

I saw a hood with the scoop on a prerunner or 4x4(can't remember) but I didn't like it. I think it goes well on the XR's, just cuz it's lower and looks aggressive as hell!

Well, if you are still interested in trading I have a brand new Tacoma in Indigo Ink blue with the standard hood that I wanted to trade for the hood scoop version. I live in Norcal so if you wanted to meet halfway we could trade on the spot. I figure it wouldn't take to long to swap the hoods out. Let me know at b5power@yahoo.com if your interested. David

Ahh... actually it's not as fake as one might think. I notice light coming through mine and therefore it's letting air flow in. Now this doesn't mean anything for non carb engine but at least I can tell folks it really flows air. I would like to think that it helps with engine compartment heat.

Alright I'm stretching it a bit here but I'm not into fake stuff either. Opps, forgot about my '68 ss camaro with fake hood louvers.

Plus non car folks tell me they like the design. I must admit the look has grown on me.

I've got an indigo blue and will trade you, no problem. No scratches on it whatsoever and I keep it nice and waxed.

Next time I go to the OC to visit my bro, we can do a swap in socal.

I'll even throw in my deflecta shield!

Send me a PM if you're interested.

- Eric
