Default Buying '05 Tacoma - questions

Hi All - I am in the process of buying a new 2005 Tacoma Double Cab. Here are my questions:

1. Is the upgraded JBL sound system worth the $650?
2. Is the Vehicle Stability Control with TRAC worth the $$$?

3. I can get the vehicle for $30,380 with the following:

Offroad package #2 - $3,695
Side airbags - $650
VSC - $850
JBL - $650
DRL - $40
Door Sill Protector - $58
Roof Rack - $350
Bed Mat - $139
Front Skid Plate - $199
Bike Mounts $98

MSRP - $32627.50

This amounts to $500 over invoice plus $299.50 D&H

What do you all think?

Thanks,

Erik

Looks almost like my config. The options however are only as good as you think they are. I'm ordering VSC because I think it's worth while on this type of vehicle. The side air bags are a must for me with a 2 year old and a DC. The stereo is debatable depending on your taste in music and how you like to listen to it. There are definitely better aftermarket solutions out there but waiting for the parts and adaptors to make them fit in the 05 Tacoma is ... well... you make your decision. If you get the DC 4WD and you want the VE package though be prepared to wait. I've only found one member here that stated he has it on his however I had to order mine back in January since no one across the US seems to have one. VE also limits your color choices as well so to each his own as they say. Check the other forum threads to see what people think about VSC and the other stuff.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I already know that the vehicle is going to be a special order.

Are you sure your stereo has a subwoofer (EJ)? I was inquiring and I don't think that it does. If you look at the options, the subwoofer/amp is not an option. I think it is just upgraded speakers and head unit.

Thanks again,

Erik

Would you ever consider buying a dealer demo? They have one with everything I want (even color) except the JBL upgrade with 2,700 miles on it for $28,000.

Hey Matt - the little "-" next to the description seems to indicate "Not Available"... What am I missing?

Well I think they could do a little more on the price, particularly on the accessories. If you need to put them into your loan go ahead and get them, but if you can afford to get them after the fact I would. Here's my thoughts

Off road pkg - Worth it
Side airbags - Worth it (although I don't have them)
Stability control - Not worth it if this will be just a daily driver/commuter
JBL - Only worth it if you don't plan on doing anything aftermarket to your stereo
DRL - Not worth it
Door sill protector - ebay for $25 shipped
Roof rack - ebay for $225 shipped
Bedmat - ebay for $70 shipped
Front skid plate - original design not worth it (design flaw) no one has seen the redesign yet. Make sure dealer will put you on the list for the redesigned model.
Bike mounts - ebay for $40 shipped

Of course ebay is an example if you don't like them there are other online stores with equal prices.

You could also try to negotiate the accessory prices with the dealer. Find the stores that have them cheaper, print it out and take it in. Many dealers will match the price.

well I found the truck I wanted and I just kept adding the stuff to it until they gave me the price I wanted. every time they went to check on the price I added something else. finally got more than I had planned and at a good price I feel like. the one good thing about getting the stuff added before you buy it is Toyota installs it all and they don't charge you any labor due to it being part of the deal. stick to your guns and figure out what the most you are willing to give and get what all you want. if financing these parts get added into the cost so it costs more in the long run but if you want the stuff now and are willing get it originally with the truck.

just my 2 cents

The site that the other guy showed only shows the options available with regular cab and access cab. The Double Cab is the only one that has the option for the JBL system with subwoofer.
