Default Found a Cabin Air Filter for 05 Taco

Stopped by my Toyota Dealer(Bert Wolfe) & gave the parts guy the measurements for the slot where the cabin air filter would go & he came up with one for the 03-05 4Runner & it fits perfectly. Part # 87139-47010-83 and listed for $20. Pic attached. Opps, it won't let me attach a pic for some reason, I'll try to put the picture in my photo section.

I don't know if I would consider that a 'perfect' fit. It looks like there is some room for air to get around it... I would think they would have one better suited, but my experience with Toyota parts is they have very little available for the '05 at this time.

You need to see it in person - the picture doesn't do it justice. The lower part where the filter lies, is curved & the filter sits squarly on it.

ahhh.... it looked like it was 'wedged' in there, kinda like what my kid does to my VCR... good to know it is a good fit, I will head to the dealer tomorrow to give it a try.

thanks!

Where exactly does the cabin filter go? Do I have to remove any panels to get to it? Also, if the '05 Tacoma has a place for it, why didn't they inculde it with our trucks?

Awww I see, thanks! OK one more question. I noticed after I popped my glove box hinges off, that there was a loose plastic piece off to the right of the golve door. What is the piece for and what do I re-connect it to? It looks like it serves no purpose to me.

that plastic piece is a "shock absorber"

it makes the glove box open slowly. it attaches to a little plastic knub.

Did you get just the filter? or did you get the plastic "cage" that the filter goes into then into the slot as well? I know on the '03-'05 runners that the filter goes into the cage then slides into the blower box.

Sorry to sound dumb, but is there no current cabin air filter on the taco? Just wondering why you wouldn't replace it with a factory one made for the Taco.

Yeah the Tacoma doesn't have the filter. It does however by the looks of it uses the same ac components behind the glovebox, so you can install a filter there. They do the same with the Scion xB. An echo cabin air filter can be used since they share some parts from the echo.

It looks like you need the cage and not just the filter. I wan't to look into doing this too, cleaner air is always nice.

Also people have used home AC filters and just cut them to size to fit the opening, and they say it works pretty good.
