Outside of the cowl water leak, is anyone experiencing these issues?
Here's the deal. I have the DC longbed AT prerunner built 10/04. I had the cowl leak, DF fender was pulled cowl seal sealed and carpet was replaced. This leak is talked about everywhere. Not an issue any longer.
I have these other issues and haven't heard anything so I thought I would post this. Does anyone have these issues:
1)Truck vibrates during braking. It is not the rotors or the brakes, but the transmission downshift or the tires/alignment or the bed. Getting very annoying.
2)Tires already balanced, still have some vibration at certain speeds on the highway. Have the Grandtek A20 tires, I think. Tried 30 and 35 lbs to see if the tire pressure would change anything. nada
3) Had to crank it twice sometimes to get it to start.
4) The lumbar pops/clicks when my weight (160lbs) shifts going around a corner.
5) Occasional harsh shift 1-2 and 4-5.
I haven't had any time to take it in outside of the cowl leak, first tire balance attempt and oil change at 1000 miles. I am only at 3000 miles. I am not hard on it and I broke it in easy then slowly opened it up after 1000 miles to a little more agressive driving. Anyone experiencing any of these other issues?
Mine is hard to start at times. My old vehicle I didn't touch the gas pedal and could just turn the key quickly and it started. My Taco makes me hold it a couple extra seconds to kick off, again I don't touch the gas pedal. On two occasions it has not started and after waiting a minute, I have had to crank it for almost 20 seconds to get it to start. Kinda embarassing with a shiny new truck....
I have 3100 miles on it, the starting issue is not a regular thing (I drive it daily) so at 5K will take it to the dealer for its first checkup and find out what they say then.

I have the vibration when braking issue on my TRD Off-Road automatic access cab. A few other people on this board have reported it too. It kicks in around 32 mph when braking downhill from highway speeds. I went for a test drive with the mechanic and he said it felt like the it was caused by the tire tread and the way it was biting into the road surface. We test drove a DC and it did the same thing so the verdict was that it was normal.
After a while, I just got used to it, and now I don't notice it as much.
I can respond to one issue - the tire balance. Toyota trucks are infamous for being very sensitive to tire balance. First, the Dunlop A20's suck. I had mine rebalanced at 300 miles & it is much improved, but not perfect, but a lot of it is in the tires. Try to find a tire or Toyota dealer that has a Hunter Tire Balancer. This machine not only balances, but gives a readout called "road force varience", which in simple terms is the force felt by your axle/spindle when the tire rotates that would try to move the tire up or down. Talk to any good tire man and even if he doesn't have one, he should know about the Hunter machine. My dealer says that his machine rejects a lot of tires & really pisses of some of the tire manufacturers. Two of my tires had a RFV in the mid 20's, which is marginal, but I put them on the back. The tighter your suspension, the more sensitive your vehicle is to RFV. My dealer once replaced all 4 tires on a brand new 02 Tundra for me because of excessive RFV. At the next tire rotation, I plan on replacing any tire that shows excessive RFV & in any event, I only expect to get about 15-20K miles out of these Dunlaps, then it Michellin time!

No, mine's never done this.
2)Tires already balanced, still have some vibration at certain speeds on the highway. Have the Grandtek A20 tires, I think. Tried 30 and 35 lbs to see if the tire pressure would change anything. nada
No vibs at any speed.
3) Had to crank it twice sometimes to get it to start.
Sometimes, when it's really cold outside. (Below 20)
4) The lumbar pops/clicks when my weight (160lbs) shifts going around a corner.
Never. (I weigh 190)
5) Occasional harsh shift 1-2 and 4-5.
Yes. (I haven't had it checked until I figured out if it's normal or not.)

Try this thread.. Tacoma:05 TRD Sport Seats Creaking & Squeaking
Various solutions have been found. Appears that fully turning the support one way or another causes the problem. Try backing off the adjustment a little.
